Looks like things might be getting real in Trump's world. It seems harsh to say, but it's obvious that nobody loves him. All else here is opaque-ish and uncertain, but love isn't. Love, of all things, might determine where this goes and what it looks like.

Genuine respect (and sympathy) for people angry and disgusted about the Dem's actions. For me, there are too many moving parts to this mess to make predictions. Randomness is a real thing (read The Drunkard's Walk and anything Malcolm Gladwell wrote). Judging is easy; being right about it is tricky.

Genuine respect (and sympathy) for people angry and disgusted about the Dem's actions. For me, there are too many moving parts to this mess to make predictions. Randomness is a real thing (read The Drunkard's Walk and anything Malcolm Gladwell wrote). Judging is easy; being right about it is tricky.

Read 1984 as a teen, found it profound and disturbing but - whew! - just a work of fiction. Fifty years later I reread it before election. Gawd it hit hard. Newspeak, doublespeak, revisionist history, fueling fear, disappearing people, oppressive surveillance. Reread Timothy Snyder - very helpful.

Regarding the senate's most recent action, my reaction differs (is more mild) than a lot of yours. The freak in the White House has put us in such an unprecedented place. Should I shit or wind my watch? What I so value about this site is that this is still us; we're allowed to disagree. We will win.
