It's completely unacceptable in every sense, except the very literal one, in which we are going to accept it.
Keir Starmer's spokesman tells me that X and Grok's creation of sexual deepfakes of children is "completely unacceptable" but again won't commit to taking direct action against them, or to stop posting there.

Says "all options are on the table" but suggests it's a matter for Ofcom, not Government

A list of the #books (and #comics) I read (and listen to) in 2026.

1. The Tao of Fully Feeling by Pete Walker - Audiobook
I'm sigging this so far. As a trainee psychotherapist who immersed himself in Taoism in his twenties and is always exploring his feelings, I couldn't resist...

After decades of scouring mainstream genre fiction for queer sub-textual references, subplots and side characters, I wasn't prepared for how powerful I'd find Will coming out and finding power in his sexuality as a central plot point in Stranger Things' final season 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Why Will’s ‘Stranger Things’ Coming Out Speech Strikes an Emotional Chord
That Will Byers finally tells his friends and family the truth is a key element in 'The Bridge,' the penultimate episode of 'Stranger Things 5.'

Genuine question: Why's the reaction of many politicians to AI 'it's transformational, we must go faster, we can dismiss concerns over energy, copyright, job losses', yet the reaction to a clean tech transition that's more advanced and has less overt downsides is 'steady now, we need to slow down'.

Back in July I was v excited to be getting a heat pump installed by @octopus.energy We were told it would be installed within within 3 months. After chasing we were eventually given an install date 5 months after our survey. This was postponed now we’re told we have to wait til Feb - 7 months later

I can’t help thinking that when, in future, people ask what UK political leaders said as it became undeniable that US saw European liberal democracy as its no1 strategic foe, Starmer and others will regret that the answer is “not much, shuffled awkwardly, looked at their feet”.

In the past 48 hours both Girl Guiding and the Women’s Institute (WI) have announced changed membership policies. After seeking legal advice, they felt left with no option but to exclude trans girls and women from membership.

By mimicking Reform to win back support, the Labour government is making a serious mistake. This race to the bottom emboldens Farage, punishes vulnerable people, amplifies racism, and undermines those working to hold communities together.

Shabana Mahmood's proposal to stop being told to "go back home" is to send people "home". Her proposal to stop black and brown people from feeling like they don't belong, is to bake in to the immigration system that they will never belong.

This document is the product of a broken administration, motivated by cynicism, immune to human decency, with a weak-to-non-existent understanding of the policy area they wish to legislate in.
And that's it. Overall impressions are
- there's still a surprising lack of detail
- lots of new work for officials but unlikely to lead to much change on the ground
- refugees will still live here rest of their lives but will struggle even more than before to integrate

This is the Labour party I thought we'd be getting in govt. Not sure what happened at the top of the party, but it went very wrong somewhere along the line. Hopefully MPs like this can course correct 😬🤞
We should stop the boats because it's dangerous, and we should stop the scapegoating of immigrants because it's wrong and cruel.

Controlled migration is good for the country, helps build our economy and diversity strengthens our communities. (1/6) 🧵

Hey Labour

Remember the majority of voters who believe in treating people decently and not stealing from those who've endured months and years of hardship fleeing war and persecution to seek a place of safety?

We're still over here 👋

Whole fucking thing makes me sick to my stomach. An abject fucking liar, a man who lies as easily as he fucking breathes, threatening an organisation which strives for truthfulness. And plastic patriots like the Mail and Farage urging him on. Jackels.

Evidence that being "gender critical" has nothing to do with listening to women. Women have made it clear that trans women are welcome in the ladies' pond at Hamstead Heath, and now a small group of transphobes is going to court to override them.
🏊‍♀️The women who swim at Kenwood Ladies Pond have already made their decision.

In 2024, almost 900 members voted to keep their trans-inclusive policy - a policy that has worked peacefully since 2019.

Now, a small campaign group is seeking to overturn that democratic decision through the courts.

Disappointed in Labour (again) but very relieved to see this scandal gathering pace when it felt like hardly anyone had noticed it on Monday. Fair play to @sundersays.bsky.social for highlighting it tirelessly.
Senior Labour figures have expressed dismay at the Party's "cowardly" and "incompetent" response to Tory shadow minister Katie Lam calling for legal migrants to "go home".

"What’s the point of us saying we’re anti-racist when we fail to call out racism," said one MP.
