If anyone would like to put on an exhibition supporting the people of Gaza, my friend Mohamed has hundreds of photos of the farm he is growing in the sands of the al-Mawasi camp after his land was stolen from him
'Palestine is different. Even with broad public support, no major museum has taken up the genocide in Gaza. No large institution I know of has put on an exhibition about Palestinian artists or Palestinian lives. Instead, the opposite'

He isn't "losing" this money. This is called "paying tax like a responsible citizen and not hiding your money offshore" and we need to start recognising and applauding it.

Answers were mainly:

1. Collective bargaining
2. Nationalised them all, shut useless ones
3. 🤷 Some did, went into private practice, built the odd private hospital.
4. Didn't cost that much. In US you already pay more in taxes for healthcare than Brits, even before spending a $ on insurance

Was listening to this podcast from an Ashtanga Yoga teacher with Rupert Spira, who practice Advaita Vedanta (a form of metaphysical non dual philosophy).

I found out he studied pottery with Cornelius Cardew's dad!!

When I arrived in the UK 25 years ago I had a job at a university that paid £21k. I could barely make ends meet but I worked hard and eventually I succeeded. I guess this Labour government considers young broke hardworking me a “taker”?

Fuck this.
This is so disgusting.

In November an 18 month investigation into ADHD concluded.

It found ADHD is massively underdiagnosed with less than 1 in 20 people over 40 receiving treatment.

It said GPs need to be diagnosing it.

Instead a review has been launched looking into it being 'overdiagnosed'

When people talk about "student politics" I don't think about demanding rich people pay taxes or opposing genocide, I think about those weird smug guys at uni who had zero empathy and a copy of sun tzu and dedicated their time to making sure they volunteered themselves to be in charge of everything.

We're at a point where reducing prosecutions and incarceration isn't a principled leftist stance, it's the only pragmatic way to keep the system functioning at all. This is an unpalatable reality for carceral ideologues so they have to grope around for magical fixes.
this ongoing crisis of the carceral state is such an infuriatingly blatant opportunity for a public conversation that the carceral state absolutely cannot permit to happen

The pandemic was a mass-disabling event and one of the reasons it has largely vanished from day to day political discourse is that those in power don't want to acknowledge the long term care needs it produced.
