Someone tell Newsom to stop attacking the trans Democrats who have problems with him.

Anyways, I wrote a book about two siblings surviving abuse that is very good and meaningful irregardless of whether or not it is an “identity book” and it deserves to be seen.
Cover for NO BETTER THAN BEASTS

We deserve to be able to write about more than this fucked up moment we live in. Our books deserve to be seen and respected even when they can’t simply be marketed as “that transgender book.” And we deserve more than an industry that demands constant commentary on the transphobia it perpetuates
zrellor.bsky.social
Stories about transphobia are important. But in this industry, trans authors are denied platforms unless our books are a reflection of transphobia in some way. What is valued about our stories is not the creativity or craft, but the commentary on a world that hates us.
zrellor.bsky.social
Trans literature has value because trans authors are human beings telling stories in their unique ways. It is profoundly frustrating to see trans authors are only valued when we write about transphobia or when we write hopeful trans stories intended to serve as an antidote to transphobia

We’re protesting outside the Broadview ICE facility and an agent came out to tell us to go away.

We said we’re exercising our First Amendment rights so he shot the ground with pepper balls and said, “Your First Amendment rights are on the sidewalk.”

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

It feels so fucking insane to be scolded about how leftists need to tone down our rhetoric while the world's richest man endorses this shit

Elon, fresh off attempting to incite race riots in England is now trying to incite pogroms against trans people.
A screenshot of a tweet from Elon Musk (@elonmusk) with the caption “This is a massive problem.” It is a quote tweet of Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog), who wrote: “Anyone who’s been in the trenches fighting these trans militants knows that they are inherently violent. On a level far beyond any other political or ideological faction. Deranged, deeply hateful, angry at themselves and the world. Suicidal. The threat they pose is very serious. …” A screenshot of a tweet from Elon Musk (@elonmusk) with the caption “Seems likely.” It is a quote tweet of Aesthetica (@Anc_Aesthetics), who wrote: “I am now 100% confident that Charlie’s assassination was carried out by a radical left wing transgender terror cell. Let’s get into the evidence…” Beneath that, a tweet from Brooke Singman (@BrookeSingman) is shown, saying: “EXCLUSIVE: Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson lived with his transgender partner, sources tell me. The individual, who is a male transitioning to a female, is fully cooperating with the FBI. Sources tell me the FBI had texts and other communications between Robinson and the individual that helped FBI authorities solidify that Robinson was indeed the shooter.” A screenshot of a tweet from Elon Musk (@elonmusk) with the caption “Terrorist cell.” It is a quote tweet of End Wokeness (@EndWokeness), who wrote: “Multiple trans people in the area posted on September 9th that ‘something big will be happening to Charlie Kirk tomorrow.’” The tweet includes a short video clip featuring a man in a dark shirt turning to look back while standing among other people in what looks like an office or police station setting.
A screenshot of a tweet from Elon Musk (@elonmusk) with the caption “Disturbing.” It is a quote tweet of Andy Ngo (@MrAndyNgo), who wrote: “Unmasking ‘Luna’: How I found the evidence confirming that the Charlie Kirk assassin suspect’s alleged lover is trans, anti-Christian and on hormones. Suspect Tyler Robinson allegedly killed Charlie while he was answering a question about trans shooters.”

As trans people are under assault in this country — e.g., being falsely blamed for the Kirk murder — California is strengthening protections for them.

Two bills I’m authoring (SB 59 & 497) to protect trans people’s health & court record privacy passed the Legislature & are heading to the Governor.

BREAKING: Federal judge in Los Angeles issues preliminary injunction against Department of Homeland Security to restrict use of force against press, legal observers and protesters.

Judge in LA Press Club v. Noem calls out "surprising savagery" of DHS officers:

Kirk didn't "engage" with others in "discourse" in any meaningful sense, and certainly not in a sense any of us should emulate. His every interaction was in bad faith. He viewed none of his interlocutors as moral equals in an exchange of ideas, but as mere means to advance is propagandistic ends.

The best way to honor Charlie's memory is to continue his work: engage with each other, across ideology, through spirited discourse. In a democracy, ideas are tested through words and good-faith debate — never through violence.

Mini marsupial bounces back from the brink!

Once listed as Endangered, the crest-tailed mulgara expanded its range by more than 48,000 km² between 2015 and 2021, lifting its status to Least Concern. Biocontrol contributed to the heartwarming bounce-back.

History rhymes, and we can learn from the cadence.
This poster, which was created and disseminated by abolitionist Theodore Parker, warns black people in Boston to beware of watchmen and police officers, who were legally allowed to act as kidnappers due to the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850.

Text reads: Caution!! Colored people of Boston, one & all, you are hereby respectfully cautioned and advised, to avoid conversing with the watchmen and police officers of Boston, for since the recent order of the mayor & aldermen, they are empowered to act as kidnappers and slave catchers ... Keep a sharp look out for kidnappers, and have top eye open. April 24, 1851

Probably worth repeating on main: evangelical Christians have their own books, movies, community spaces, and organized events. They have a robust echo chamber and they build political power by getting folks to join it.
zrellor.bsky.social
As everyone knows, when evangelicals siloed themselves off into insular communities and built their own media ecosystems, it was the end of their political power in the US.
