Don't know whether this is new or has been up for awhile. Either way, when the White House creates a hit list of journalists it doesn't like, the free press is in danger. www.whitehouse.gov/mediabias/

The White House’s new anti-media website includes denunciations of:

-ABC, which bribed the president
-CBS, which bribed the president and moved away from fact-based journalism trying to appeal to him and his fans
-WaPo, which spiked a Harris endorsement and tilts coverage in Trump’s favor

Fools.

Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

The White House launched a “media bias” “fact checking” site after more than three years of labeling efforts to understand and counter disinformation “censorship.”

The White House just launched a "Media Bias" tracker to supposedly monitor fake news. It's really a hit list of reporters & outlets covering issues in ways Trump & the admin dislike. Flagrant attack on independent thought, freedom of the press & free speech. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

I’m old enough to remember… oh never mind. These hypocrites don’t give a damn about their hypocrisy. They spend years falsely accusing various members of “the left” of doing what they have absolutely no problem and no shame doing themselves. The “censorship industrial complex” scam.

The Nazis used the term "Lying Press" (Lügenpresse) to discredit and censor all dissenting media, simultaneously targeting journalists, and seizing, and giving their political allies control of news outlets to crush any opposition.

Just mentioning that now for no reason at all.

Targeting the free press is nothing new for this administration or for Trumpism but this feels like an elevation of hostiles

See, a government list of "media offenders" is very different from federal censorship, which thankfully ended earlier in the year.

The best thing the national political press could do is stop it with their special Trump Rules and cover him like they would have covered any other president. They should have done that 10 years ago, but it's never too late.
