US NSS 2017 vs US NSS 2025
(Trump I vs Trump II) on climate change

Norwegian Institute of International Affairs and Corisk did the math Europe's politicians haven't.

Arm Ukraine to win: €522-838 billion. Let Russia win and rearm Europe: €1.2-1.6 trillion—double the cost. Plus 6-11 million additional refugees.
Could not be more contrary to American traditions. A gold-bedecked White House with a massive gilded ballroom and a government-created personality cult around the president complete with giant banners of his face on government buildings and official celebrations of his birthday.
When I saw the story in passing I thought it was the same dumb bit as the army parade, the fig leaf of using Flag Day because it happens to also be his birthday. But no, Trump's birthday as such is now an official commemoration for NPS free admission days.

you mean he should saw "we have our PM of Canada there"? That would play well up here
He should definitely go do a public event in Canada where he says this exact thing.

Wow. Tracy Beth Høeg, the FDA's new acting director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) just put this slide up during her presentation to ACIP.

We have left reality.

The new US National Security Strategy mentions climate change once:

A paper from Indonesia seems to have made agreement in the current WTO fisheries subsidies negotiations even more difficult to reach. It says the latest draft would violate sovereignty principles in the UN Law of the Sea. This is going to be controversial

Indonesia accuses WTO fish subsidies draft of violating Law of the Sea
It criticises disclosing information, countries scrutinising each other, and committee oversight. But they are standard in the WTO.

To me it also suggests that we are now sprinting towards zombie NATO (which is everything Putin wanted.) This needs to be considered in Canadian defence and national security planning.

The new National Security Strategy is a propaganda document, designed to be widely read. It is also a performative suicide. Hard to think of another great power ever abdicating its influence so quickly and so publicly. It will be worth following the reactions around the world, not just in Europe.
Trump's national security strategy is out and some of the Europe sections are shocking. "...the growing influence of patriotic European parties indeed
gives cause for great optimism."

In a dangerous and divided world, Canada and Europe are elevating our defence partnership.

That means more access to new equipment for our Armed Forces, more investment in Canada, and massive opportunities for Canadian workers and businesses.

Fun fact: it was originally written in Latin and translated into Norman French. Because they were the two dominant languages of the Church and State for well over 300 years after 1066.

English Nationalists please note😀
Has any prime minister ever gotten less political value out of a giant investment than Justin Trudeau got from TMX? Obviously environmental groups/voters were never going to like it, and most everyone else just pretends it never happened because it complicates the narrative.
