This year I did a little study of the visitors to the globe thistles in my garden, and counted 11 species of bee, 4 species of wasp, 3 species butterfly, 2 species moth, 11 species hoverfly, 8 species other flies, 4 species spiders, 3 bugs and 2 beetles - 48 total! 😄🪲🐝 #LentoAdvent #Invertebrates

One of our Broom Baccharis shrubs is in full bloom and
1- has attracted two Figeater beetles, a Hairstreak butterfly, and plenty of honeybees!
2- this section has a brown skipper with its long proboscis dipping into the small blooms for nectar
3- two shiny green Figeater beetles with gold trim 🪲 🌿

Just found this odd little creature on my lawnmower and after some research learned that it's an overwintering Eastern Swallowtail butterfly 🤯 The bug diversity has weirdly become my favorite part of life in the Blue Ridge mts 🪲🐛🐜🦋

Just watched Frankenstein in theaters last night and I CANNOT stop thinking about it.
I also just found this poster and I LOVE how much butterfly symbolism it has.

I caught that Elizabeth was dressed in the colors of one of her beetles and realized the bug motifs.
