Despite how our world feels right now, we have only made the progress we have because of MLK Jr. and all those who were courageous enough to fight alongside him against injustice. It is hard to feel the power of his legacy at a time when the world feels like it’s on fire.The Trump administration is purposefully turning a peaceful city into a warzone to stoke division and hate. Now, Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of unity is more important than ever. That does not mean backing down or accepting what the GOP and ICE are doing, but standing unwavering in our commitment to what is right. Whatever venomous ... 3/4 "attacks the government and bigots threw at Dr. King Jr. refused to back down. He showed America, and the world, the true meaning of conviction and that, even in the face of insurmountable odds, you can move forward. The Trump administration wants to be an unstoppable force; we will be an immovable object, just as Dr. King Jr. would have had us do. In that spirit, we are going to continue doing what is right. This week, we are holding Republicans accountable for rejecting Governor Evers’ $1.3 billion middle-class tax cut — a proposal that is only possible because of the surplus the governor and Democrats have secured. It is nothing short of fiscally irresponsible for the GOP to say no to a tax break in the middle of an affordability crisis 4/4 "that they created. We are also continuing to shine a light on the GOP’s role in creating a health care crisis by driving up ACA premium costs and putting affordable coverage further out of reach for middle class families. The GOP’s actions on both of these issues, stand on the opposite side of the American people and what Dr. King stood for, and why we stand united with his vision and memory. Thanks for tuning in. Which let’s face it, at this point is an authoritarian regime. Between NATIVE AMERICANS (the only true people with any right to this country) being ripped off the street, families being tear-gassed with their babies in their cars and the Black Panthers doing the work no other agency seems willing to do - protect the protesters legally exercising their rights - we should all be furious and terrified. As MLK Day approaches this is all the more visceral. As a business that has never bought a follower and worked for 10+ years to build our community we will be using this platform to share information and invite our community to stand in solidarity. Maybe that’s an unpopular decision to some but we feel it’s standing on business. Period. We’re working on a fundraiser, details to come soon. We are beyond shocked by today’s reporting that oil and gas corporations are attempting to infiltrate Democratic primaries in Colorado. This is corporate corruption at its most blatant: polluters hiding behind front groups to manipulate our elections after voters repeatedly rejected their agenda.
Colorado Working Families Party Statement on Colorado Sun Exposé that Oil & Gas Provides Major Funding for One Main Street “One Main Street has been exposed for what it really is: a front group for oil and gas interests trying to rig Colorado’s politics and government behind closed doors. Working families are struggling to afford groceries, rent, and healthcare, while fossil fuel corporations rake in record profits. As Colorado becomes a deeper blue state, these toxic corporate interests are pouring their money into covert efforts to infiltrate the Democratic Party, mislead voters, and protect their bottom line.
