[P] Speaking as the head of JoCo Cruise programming, I approve of this, and will add the abduction to the official schedule.

If I recall, they opened it the next day. I don’t recall which joco cruise this was.

Glad to have engaged with the programming on #StrongTowns brought to Iowa City by JoCo Affordable Housing and Greater, IC. Today's conversation on implementing the approach as an elected official really feels like a strong piece of the vision for Iowa's future.

I was on the ship Nieuw Amsterdam a few weeks ago and found a guitar pick from the 2023 Joco Cruise in the couch cushions.

Schmitt seems triggered. There was a huge turnout of real Kansans in JoCo

Really REALLY wish Laura Kelly would jump in against Roger Marshall. Prairie Village (rich white NIMBY KC suburb) keeps throwing people into the race and they’ll never win outside of JoCo. Kelly has won statewide TWICE and beat the GOP darling and proto-Trump in Kris Kobac

most of joco won’t even try north of the river unless they need KCI. afraid they’re going to turn into a pumpkin 🥲

Most of the races (aside from WaterOne, where only Dem Jennifer Gunby has an opponent) ARE contested, but municipal ballots DO NOT list a candidate's party affiliation, so it's important to know who to vote for before you show up.

good starting point: most JOCO libraries (and probably in general) have little “meet your neighbor” cards. you fill in your info and hand out to your neighbors 1) to introduce yourself and 2) so they can reach you in an emergency. the simple act helps build trust & community when we need it most
a lot of people are ready to resist and revolt or whatever but when they find out a lot of resistance is… just talking to your neighbors a lot? they lose some steam. I get it. I’m good friends w/ one of my neighbors and the rest im largely clueless about. the work is good but it’s slow & takes time

Yeah, 50 year NC resident here, maybe it's the oversized truck and the entitled attitude, but DUI ICE divorcé deadbeat dad here sounds like someone from JoCo.

Oh absolutely not coastal or mountain.

Eastern piedmont, probably Harnett, JoCo, or maybe Fuquay. Could be exurban Atlanta or Charlotte (but definitely not Gastonia) or maaaybe Triad, but he sounds like someone who grew up in Clayton or Benson but has lived away for long enough to shave it down.

Sticking to JoCo! Our governor won’t sic national guard on us. Also think it’s important to protest where you vote. The marathon is always a cluster for everyone else in the area.

It's been probably 10 years, but I had the pleasure of watching Jonathan Coulton perform once again tonight in Chicago!

JoCo has to be the artist I've seen the most times (6?) live. His humor and nerd rock just tickles me fancy. From Code Monkey to First of May to Ikea and of course Still Alive. 🥰
