Have you seen Savageland? Much the same documentary vibe as Horror In The High Desert, but instead of found footage it's built around a series of still photos of an...incident, no spoilers. Spookier than it had any right to be.

Maybe my favorite zombie movie? I dislike modern zombie apocalypse tropes, and think they're much more effective monsters as a localized phenomenon.
The faux-doc format and the blurry photos leave a lot to your imagination, making it scary in a way I don't think I've ever seen elsewhere

Like HoX/PoX just beats you over the head more times than the Earth has rotated around the Sun that the X-Men are being the biggest hypocrites on the planet. It’s not subtle at all

Also this week I watched Savageland (2015), as I keep working through Random Number Generator Horror Podcast No 9. Absolutely floored by how good this was. It could maybe have done more as a horror film, but the reason it doesn't is because it's more interested in nailing its political commentary.

follow throughout the story, but also the dread of systemic injustice...... might have to go searching for another horror mockumentary after this and Lake Mungo, i think The Bay is one? and i might also just come back to Savageland lol it just rly stuck with me........

If you enjoyed that one for the Dateline type of format and the way it sticks with you, if you haven't seen it already, my top recommendation next to it would be SAVAGELAND. I have chills just typing this post out and thinking about it again.
