Just saw a woman pushng a stroller down the clearest path of an unplowed street and she had to get out of the way of a semi truck like what are we doing

In Victoria and NSW 15-2Omph over is an automatic suspension ... road death rates are about 1/3 of the US average
Seems like getting your drivers license revoked after going 100 mph+ should be the norm, rather than one possible outcome of an experimental pilot program.

A Tale of Two Cities (plowing policies): Minneapolis (L), where residents have to shovel their own sidewalks; vs. Edina (R), where the city plows main thoroughfare sidewalks.

Started the day with a beautiful morning run in the crisp winter air and then falling so hard on an icy sidewalk.

Another year starts with me yelling expletives out loud about our public spaces - perfect.

I should probably expect this from Roseville, but this is just embarrassing. It was even difficult for me to walk through here as an able-bodied person.

This is just east of Rosedale along County Road B2.

Do better, Roseville!

Please, by equivocating like this Ellison makes it seem like these are equal problems when they are most definitely not. Drivers are the problem. www.makeroadssafe.org/minneapolis-.... #CarsAreWeapons #WarOnPedestrians
"The bottom line, Ellison said, when it comes to improving safety: “Drivers need to do their part. In a lot of cases, pedestrians have to do their part.” 😞

Minneapolis right now.

My friend was hit in a crosswalk last week in #WalkTO - he is OK but went to hospital & has a concussion 🤕

I checked data... Turns out left turns account for 26% of injuries caused by collisions - pedestrian's had right of way in 24% of cases. So drivers are the problem! @ffsafestreets.bsky.social

This needs to STOP! People should not be responsible for shoveling roads. Which is basically what is happening here. If we have taken the time to responsibly shovel sidewalks then there needs to be a better plow method that doesn't undo it. #WarOnPedestrians #CarsAreWeapons @aurinmpls.bsky.social
I have video from a few years ago of a City of Minneapolis plow moving a hug mound of snow from the middle of the street (T intersection turns/plowing left an island) literally into a beautifully shoveled, totally clear sidewalk corner.
It is so maddening that my neighbors have worked hard to clear their sidewalks and then the city comes in and piles the snow and ice from the street right on our walkways making it impossible for many people to get around.

#CarsAreWeapons #WarOnPedestrians - Yes, 50% increase in deaths of Pedestrians. That's the size/weight/speed of the vehicles as well as lack of accountability for #Drivers. #DriversAreMurderers
Between 2013 and 2022, the number of traffic-related deaths in the United States increased by nearly 23%, from 32,893 to 42,514, according to a March report by the federal CDC. Pedestrian deaths increased by 50% during the same period ohiocapitaljournal.com/2025/12/17/r...

#WarOnPedestrians What happened to fining homeowners, sending city workers to shovel properties? If they tow a car for #SnowEmergencies the same should be done for #Sidewalks.
Getting to the point in the snowfall/mashdown/melt/freeze cycle where property owners who've taken no action to shovel should be eligible for aggravated assault charges.

#WarOnPedestrians (Yes, people using wheelchairs are pedestrians too!)
I watched a person using a wheelchair yesterday in the westbound lane on lake st, east of Minnehaha because the sidewalk in front of a vacant lot was not passable.

Sidewalks are awful today. Anything that wasn’t shoveled to the pavement is ice. It’s the perfect temp to get melt and freeze at the same time. Be safe!

The city plows parking lanes by moving heavy compacted ice chunks to block sidewalks already cleared by responsible property owners/managers.

Here are walking vs driving conditions in Minneapolis. THIS IS A CITY CHOICE. This is not snow as it fell, but how the city chose to what to plow and where to leave the ice chunks.

Walking in Minneapolis is a trip. Constant, shockingly terrible driving behavior seemingly everywhere. Red light running, speeding, illegal turns, illegal passing, drivers of all ages staring at their phones regardless of time of day, kids being around, or anything else.

This is now manslaughter.

#CarsAreWeapons #WarOnPedestrians - PS, even if the Pedestrians were not in a crosswalk, they would have the right of way crossing at ANY intersection.
"Preliminary information indicates the pedestrians were in the crosswalk and had the right of way when crossing Summit Avenue," police wrote in a statement Monday afternoon.

Smells like car bloat:

"More than 3,800 people were killed almost immediately when they were struck in 2023, an indication that high speeds and larger vehicles are making impacts more violent. The rate at which pedestrians are declared dead at the scene of the crash has more than doubled."
