College Gains💪🍔
College brings many opportunities, but there's none quite like this one. This house at college got the biggest bros and they don't seem to stop growing, even their compliments has an effect!

Two general themes they agreed on immediately:

1. If they used AI for everything, they would learn nothing, and come out of college with no valuable skills, and be replaceable by an AI.

2. All available AI detection software was unreliable and unjust. (I agree with this.)

The anger people have at media institutions and college administrators can’t be detached from this, it’s not just that people can perceive cowardice it’s that they see others with more on the line doing more to stand up for their values than the people who have been trusted to safeguard things

the thing about "signing up to pay for college" is they give you the same guns and send you to the same places as the guys who signed up to legally murder brown people in foreign nations and get away with it. "paying for college" is not an excuse anyone should be respecting

They would not behave like this were it not for the monstrosity that is the winner-take-all Electoral College.
This is an actual post from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth: Praising ICE after Alex Pretti was killed, blaming the Democratic leadership of Minnesota, and writing that ICE is greater/better than Minnesota.

He is actively demeaning the people of Minnesota just hours after Pretti was murdered.

Trump Logic:
Denmark is such a poor, weak country, it can afford to give its citizens free healthcare and eduction
America is so wealthy and powerful, its citizens have to go bankrupt if they get sick or want their children to go to college.

Wanted to talk a bit about the work of NI O.

NI O is a South Korean artist I’ve looked up to for a long time, and I miss seeing new work from them. They were consistently producing some of the best creature art I’ve ever seen when I was fresh out of college, then they just vanished.

Or more broadly, telling your most committed constituents that they are an anchor, a liability, a problem for you -- that, by caring about anything more than what a non-college middle-PA swing voter cares about, they are fucking everything up for you.

That's the constant message.
I am just a simple small-town lawyer but I really can’t think of a more toxic and self-defeating political strategy than telling your constituents the things they care about are “a distraction.”

ICE agents in Maine kidnapped a college student after a minor car crash. They ran his plates, shoved him into a car, and shipped him down to Burlington, Massachusetts. ICE agents refused to let him call a lawyer.

Sandrine Koumba said she doesn’t know why her son, who has no criminal record, was detained after a minor car crash Tuesday.

A near immobile college professor teaching their students about the intrinsic beauty of obesity throughout their course, instructing the young adult masses to give into their desires and become the greedy pigs they always wanted to be deep down~

Sorry, horny.

many of my friends in high school joined the marines not because the didn’t want college debt, but because they didn’t think they were college material, and figured they could get transferable job training and experience without a degree

yes, the subject of Kirk/TPUSA's grift (reactionary boomers who kids won't talk to them after graduating college) were convinced that a young person saying things they liked was proof that other youngish people were like him
Imo what happened here is they thought that Kirk was actually the youth whisperer and all the young soft R support was because of people who loved him personally

Turns out that group are allergic to solemnity (esp when forced) and immediately turned his death into a big joke
books about this era are going to heavily feature the failed Horst Wesseling of Kirk. it was the first place where the regime wanted something, got elite buy-in, and it blew up in their face

Whenever I speak to college students lately, most of them are excited to tell me that “they grew up watching Trollhunters.”

Time certainly flies — but I’m glad our work made an impact on so many young minds!

Yes, it's true, someone took your job. And they took your ability to afford an annual road trip to Disney Land. And they took your college nest egg for your kid. You're right. If you want to know who took your money, it's the people with all of the money! (That's how you can tell.)

I told the story about my grandfather's political evolution in this thread. When I visited him in October 2008 he spent hours on the phone with his old college friends from the 1930s talking about how excited they were to vote for Obama. These were not "radical leftists." bsky.app/profile/seth...
Fast forward to October 2008 and I'm sitting in that same living room with my then-90-year-old grandfather watching Colin Powell endorse Barack Obama on Meet the Press. I look over and my usually stoic, long-time-Republican grandfather is crying with joy that he will get a chance to vote for Obama.

It honestly will be really funny when the autistic, Reed College Alum, Portland small business tyrant loses to a Nazi in a blue wave election because 10% of her base will be so disgusted with her they skip the race
these are the 7 house democrats who voted to give ICE another $10 billion on thursday btw

The Trump administration explicitly arrested college students for their pro-Palestine free speech

None of the "free speech absolutists" will be outraged, because they always meant "free speech for me, shut up for you"
Newly unsealed evidence makes it even clearer that Rubio and Noem knew they were targeting students based solely on their political speech and that they knew this policy was unconstitutional. They just didn’t care. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/22/u...

I live in VT, work in NH, on a college campus where just a few days ago a brilliant international student journalist--all they wanted to do--said they won't study or practice it in U.S. now for practical concern about traveling back and forth between their home country and campus.
If you live in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont save these numbers for the various ICE watch hotlines

I’ll never understand this inhumane cruelty toward immigrants.

In college, I volunteered doing free after school tutoring, ESL, and writing workshops in a heavily immigrant community in SF. Sometimes I helped the parents too, because they wanted to understand their kids’ homework and more…
