#hīkoi
"I could hear an enormous amount of ranting, kind of against the whole thing. I didn't get the full gist of it, but it was basically - 'the hīkoi is ages ago, sit down everybody' - so this geezer was just ranting away and telling everybody to sit down," Don McGlashan said.

I dunno. I feel very differently after witnessing Hīkoi 2024, which at least Wellington had a massive impact on labour productivity for the day without a strike even happening. I watched workers just leave to join or stop work to watch w/out much resistance.

But I admit I'm an optimist on this one.

True that and this one by Gil Hanley at Te Hikoi Takaparawhā Bastion Point in 1984 captures his infectious laugh and personality.

NZers protest loudly and often. we essentially had a constitutional crisis in 2024 and it wasn't just that MP tearing a paper that stopped the bill that would have thrown it to the wind - there was a HUGE hikoi, over many days, from many types, and it worked.

Buddhist hikoi
I have tried to promote this as much as possible.
MSM seem to be ignoring it completely.
We know our promotion helps.
But should we really be trying to push peace on a national level.

WAKE UP MAINSTREAM MEDIA.

If it helps (it doesn't), i watched Hīkoi this morning (it's been on my "To watch" list for a LOOONG time), and it made me *infuriated* with Labour past.

At least we're no longer there.

Went for a walk along the lake this morning. These 3 things happened the year I was born. The 4th thing was 100 years before I was born.

#Hysterectomy - hormones all over the place. Cut back oestrogen because of a two day headache - now 25mg. Today no headache.

Might need something for anxiety. I have appointment with GP in new year.

Today prescribed myself dancing to loud music and a hīkoi. #Hauora

We like to do a water gun fight usually. 😆 I'm always into a nice hīkoi, but that's gotta be done just me and the dogs because none of my family want to go on walks 😅

Maybe it was a quiet Thursday?

More would be watching TV coverage of #cricket test at Hagley Park and maybe more in person too than at opening of IKEA store. 🏏vs 🛒🏬

Most international concerts get bigger audiences. Same with many hīkoi or protest marches.

"Beating Māori children for speaking their language was bad. Anyway, let's make it out like they were savages until we got here."
*The room erupts with pompous British belly laughs.

Wonder if we need another hīkoi, except this time we knock the damn doors down.

The best time was the one time Tabs and I saw her together; the zoo was EMPTY, and her keepers were taking her on a hīkoi. We got to have a FAT yarn with her 😭😭😭
