Great to hear from MI State Senate candidate Chris Mapps - @chrismapps.bsky.social - at our December potluck and meeting tonight. Thanks for joining us Chris!

I read the MAPPS 1 and 2 studies, which were on using psilocybin to treat PTSD, and the researchers were beyond Type A about the settings: mandated the music playlists, wall artwork, room colors, furniture, pretty much every detail from floor to ceiling.

That's not what Beast and Grimes are doing

For reasons I do not understand, I've found myself staring at this screenshot of mayoral endorsements from the very serious, inscrutable institution known as pdxreal. Finding something new to chuckle about each time I look at it.

as a matter of fact there are MANY losers who have not crowded my thoughts such as Rene Gonzalez, Mingus Mapps, and Sam Adams

I still think it's funny that Mapps and Rene chose to go for the citywide position because I don't think could get elected in their own districts to a council seat.

gonzalez and mapps both got elected and gonzalez looks like he’s the front-runner for mayor this year, so it’s not great

It sucked because that was the same election that Chloe Eudaly was up for reelection. She got all sorts of renter protections up. That write-in campaign was what they spent their energy on instead of helping her get re-elected.. and now we have Mingus Mapps! 🤦🏼‍♀️

We are going to start a small series of blog posts and event that asks

What makes for a livable city?

Not easy to answer but also definitely not what folks like Gonzalez and Mapps believe. Drop an idea in the comments.

Portland politicians should be working with local parties to get a real multi party government going.

I know our offices are “non-partisan” but in a left leaning city where “democrat” can mean people from Mapps to Morillo - it would help voters to see who the WFP, DSA, & Pacific Greens are with.
If you work full time, you should be paid enough to live a decent life. Doesn't matter what the job is.

Also notable that newly-elected Commish Mingus Mapps @Mingus4Portland senior policy advisor Matt Glazewski is at the meeting too. Said he's also met w PBOT Director, is a daily bike rider himself, and is "really excited" to be at the BAC meeting.

These are good signs. 😁

me looking at any other city’s election: ok who’s the rene gonzalez and who’s the mingus mapps?

"These are all changes that should be made. Unfortunately for some, these changes come too late. For me, these changes cannot come soon enough." - Commish Mingus Mapps votes yes.

I actively dislike Gonzalez, Rubio, and Mapps so this is going to be a real tough one for me to try and game out a vote order
October 10, 2024 at 5:40 PM
the thing about this is that i'm not happy about it, either, but rubio has disqualified herself through her own behavior, and gonzalez and mapps are both absolutely terrible public servants who would be worse with more power.
Decent chance we see political ads and other messaging akin to this ramp up in the next couple of weeks.

Rubio & Gonzalez supporters have been quietly making this comparison since the summer.

As one recently told me: “It’s as if Ted Wheeler and Charlie Hales had a baby.”

But the joy of RCV is that I can actually rank Mapps second to last ahead of Gonzales to make that preference clear!
July 30, 2023 at 1:24 AM
Mapps is very polished and probably well positioned to be a functionary. I'm still sore about his handling of bike lanes to be enthusiastic. Still rankable, unlike Rene. I'd agree with your rankings for the overall debate performance.

There's a type of dude out there who is overly-confident in the superiority of his own skills and ideas, but is actually really incompetent. Commissioner Mapps is one of those dudes.

A document outlining detailed options was prepared for Commissioner Mapps @CommMapps on 8/21. Mapps has said he meets weekly with Director Williams. She gave PBOT her decision on 9/14, "After consulting w the commissioner."

Mapps denies ever seeing a set of proposals.
