#platitude
It’s about protecting trans people. Don’t turn it into a generic platitude and rob it of its meaning.
I feel like we have the opportunity to turn David Lynch's quote into this moment's "Keep Calm and Carry On" and it's a far better rallying cry too.

That entire thread is such a load of platitude bs
November 10, 2025 at 10:31 PM
Explain EXACTLY how to do that and what that means.
"Get money out of politics!" is an empty platitude that has never made traction in the entire lifetime of the US Congress.

Commodified fantasy takes no risks: it invents nothing, but imitates and trivializes. It proceeds by depriving the old stories of their intellectual and ethical complexity, turning their truth-telling to sentimental platitude.

unfortunately they haven't yet invented the horse you can make drink. The platitude that things do eventually get better is unhelpful but true

Guess you could say I’ve got a… Platitude Problem.
November 6, 2025 at 3:17 AM
Hey, I just want to say with a clear, loud voice that I wear this image, as a cis man, to broadcast my unwavering belief that trans rights are human rights, and to show my commitment to the fight. I do not support the dilution or blurring of this phrase into some liberal platitude.

Ok. We’ve seen the misconception about this phrase from Twin Peaks float around enough times that we really have to say something. (We blurred out both post authors, don’t go bothering them)

“Fix your hearts or die” isn’t Gordon being supportive. It’s using his Ally card to pressure Denise.

Know that we together are stronger, more resilient, more morally sound than the establishment could ever feign to be.

That's neither platitude nor comfort; it is a condemnation of them, and a reminder to play your own part in countering oppression and helping those in your community.

So, a boss at a previous job gave me an "oracle" book for Christmas one year. I don't turn to it for actual guidance, but I do occasionally flip it open to a random page and laugh at the platitude. But... today? DON'T FUCKING PATRONIZE ME, YOU HUNK OF CELLULOSE.
November 10, 2025 at 6:40 PM
I worry that saying how brave it is to share something like this sounds like a platitude but… it is brave and I genuinely hope this helps some folks. Fair play, Tom.

he turned around, 2 days before the election, and said mamdani wasn't the future of the party when he could've given a "we are democrats and there's room for us both" platitude, so it's fair to call his endorsement mealy-mouthed

Starmer is a duplicitous platitude on legs, just hanging around until his batteries run out.

Someone who wants to hear something that isn’t a platitude that is also wrong
November 3, 2025 at 6:33 PM
There are no pure candidates!

All of us/them make mistakes!

HOWEVER, giving platitude to Charlie (just to name one unforgivable "mistake") is a bridge too far.

I have too many women and minorities I care about to just overlook the lack of judgement. Now you can go and call me purist too.

I have this - I know it's a platitude so I feel fake saying it, even if it's true.
November 4, 2025 at 12:01 PM
Men stor forskjell fra dem: At man faktisk kjemper FOR noe. Ikke bare sier de andre er dårlige. (Mot fascisme er en forutsetning, men ikke en visjon)
November 6, 2025 at 9:22 PM
Finally got the whole thread to load.

Unfortunately, I've heard much like this. Put bluntly, Trans Guys aren't protected enough.

I know everyone says it and all that, and it's an easy platitude, but I mean it when I say if you need to talk. I am open.

I may be a Trans Woman, but...cont

Its become this infuriating liberal platitude when marginalized ppl lament about how fucked up everything feels rn
November 4, 2025 at 2:30 AM
imo if you want to be cynical about your purchases then just say, "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism"

it's still wrong, but that platitude doesn't sound as stupid as whatever it is you're trying to express now
November 2, 2025 at 6:02 PM
Probably not. Platitude Pete brings a quality level of inauthentic blandness to posting that AI hasn't learned yet. I'm sure that one day, with the right prompt, AI will produce something as truly meaningless as what is casually voiced by Buttigieg, but we just don't have the technology yet.

As a vet who served 34 combined. This pisses me off. 1st off I hate that " thank you for your service " platitude. Those are always hollow fucking words and an insult.

You want to thank vets for our service then get off your lazy worthless ass and give something back.

Volunteer with a charity.
