Azine's informal free housing arrangement is about to end abruptly. We don't know when; it could be at any time. We need to raise money to get her into an Airbnb as quickly as we can manage.
We don't have the resources for long-term solutions, so I'm just keeping her alive as long as I can.

ICE and CBP Agents Are Scanning Peoples’ Faces on the Street To Verify Citizenship
Videos on social media show officers from ICE and CBP using facial recognition technology on people in the field. One expert described the practice as “pure dystopian creep.”

sounds like a way to deport trans people
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

WOW! The Washington Post obtained the rest of the body cam footage showing that the drunk-driving ICE agent promised to check if the arresting officer's partner was Haitian. "I’m going to run some checks when I get back." He added that he would have him deported if "not legit."

And even that is probably not going to happen since this country has eroded any means of ensuring those can even happen.

One of the reasons I love retro-SF futures is because they speak to this increasing trend of turning shit off and disconnecting devices. When AWS goes down and bricks your bed, fridge, and thermostat, the appeal of analog is keenly felt.

Decent chance if you come across a candidate saying this in a GOP primary, really leaning into it and similar language playing up hard how Christian they are, it's because they have a Jewish opponent. They know it's the safe way to dogwhistle even though it's about as subtle as a brick to the face.
Charlie Kirk did not get killed for saying that Jesus Christ is King (which has become a far-right slogan over and above its usual religious significance).
Chip Roy: "The truth is the marxist, radicals, and Islamists the Democratic Party promoted this weekend, they cannot handle the truth. The truth is that there is a king and that king is Jesus. And the president has been willing to say it, & Charlie Kirk was willing to say it & he got killed for it."

I cannot emphasize this enough:
The regime has overextended itself. It is vulnerable to protest and dissent.
They have not consolidated power and we are entirely capable of keeping them from doing so.

I’m going to go tech bro here for a second on the off chance this somehow reaches a bluesky dev. Bear with me.
it can be really hard to not take user feedback personally, but it’s vital to not do that for the sake of both your community & your own mental health.
Here’s how you adapt
