Pneumatology in the Gospel of John: Jesus doesn't need a bucket to draw living water out of Jacob’s well because he has a really long straw instead.

IOW, you can’t just take the “goods” of Christianity and run away from the ongoing, active presence of the living Christ. To do so is to do something that is “un-Christian.”

People often chide Barth for lacking pneumatology, but the HS is what actualizes this Christology. It’s the *living* Christ.

Oh, I gotcha. That's a great catch. Very weak pneumatology

One year at #BostonCollege! With classes on Vatican II, pneumatology, and #spiritualdirection, it seems that the "seven fat years" have started. I've never felt that I can fully use my talents as much as now. That is wonderful indeed and fills me with thankfulness. Deo gratias!

As I look at the ministry landscape and see burnout, struggles, hurt, and failures, I am convinced of this:

We may say the right things about the Spirit and what the Spirit does, but we don't actually live and practice as if our pneumatology is true.💔

I am not opposed to the use of technology in academia. But I also know that the assignments in theology classes are not given because the field needs a few dozen more MDiv reflections on Moltmann's pneumatology (or whatever). The whole point is students actually reading and wrestling with the ideas!

Update: AI Jesus is firmly Chalcedonian but triangulates between Eastern and Western pneumatology

seems like an odd line to draw
You have to hand it to them

Stuart Clark makes a similar point about demonology in "Thinking With Demons" (1997). Today it is considered a pseudoscience (at best) but in the medieval and early modern periods, demons were understood to be part of nature.

It does need a pneumatology imo

but also the logic the reformers use to justify it just pisses me off
“the Canon‘s structure is illogical there’s no pneumatology it needs an epiclesis”—cut the malarkey, Jack!

The Pneumatology he derives from Bulgakov is kind of inscrutable, and idk if I agree with identifying the Holy Spirit with the pneuma God breathed in us in creation, at least so unequivocally. I mean, our reception of the Spirit must mean something beyond just "recognizing our God nature"... no?

I'm still iffy on the pneumatology but I've always been. so that's unsurprising

Christian dogma covers several other loci as well, but these are the four that are most relevant to me - my personal theology doesn't have much to do with the Holy Spirit, for example, so I don't have anything interesting to say about pneumatology. :3

So what do I have to say admit these four?

Just from the TOC, I hope to make it evident that slavery touches every aspect of early Christian thought: theology, pneumatology, ecclesiology, literate labor, ethics, agency, spirit possession, and so much more

New open access article: In the Wisdom of Solomon, .. the “spirit of wisdom” and the personified Wisdom .. are brought together and developed. [..] The result is the “Angelomorphic Spirit of Wisdom,” a unique development in late Second Temple Jewish pneumatology.
