I suppose reading more books and less news would be one avenue, since I already have books in my house that I want to read.

You may have done so already but if you haven’t, the Slacktivist blog’s series covering the books, at least those of them Fred Clark made it through, is essential reading IMO.

You're reading one of those books in which the author is in love with the reader. My life.

The Body is Not an Apology. Good self-help book encouraging radical self love + body positivity. I don't really read self-help books (this was for a reading challenge so forced me out of my comfort zone) but it has good messages to it.

One major plus of bluesky is I've got a lot of new reading reccs or seen interesting books. Good excuse to get off bluesky.

Books I am reading for my elective course this semester:

Ella Minnow Pea - Mark Dunn
I Who Have Never Know Men - Jacqueline Harpman
Mockingbird - Walter Tevis
Moon of the Crusted Snow - Waubgeshig Rice.

I thought I was taking a LIT course, but it turns out it's current events and modern history!

And ordinary men

But omg just writing all those I’m even more annoyed that this was an undergrad class and when I was teaching grad school some of the ‘bad reviews’ 15 years after I took this class was I assigned too much reading. They had 3 books.

I am reading a super intense series of 10 books and am halfway through. Needing to take a break with something kinda silly or “romantic” or something.

I feel like Nighthawk has been reading way too many books about the Reconstruction period in the American South to be coming up with names like that.

Reading Later. What I enjoy about @stephenking.bsky.social books is that it’s like he’s having a conversation with you. “Check it out.”

You honestly should be supporting libraries more than just reading a few books on Libby anyway imho 🤷‍♀️

(I do understand accessibility but that’s not what these posts were positioning themselves on)

Just finished "Braiding Sweetgrass" by Robin Wall Kimmerer

It had been on my TBR pile for a while and I'm glad I took the time to savor this one. A very good read, especially this time of year and in these times.

It's been a minute since I've updated my "current reads" - going with some classic romance authors. Rendezvous is an ebook, The Seven Rings is an audiobook. Working on a replacement physical book at the moment as I'm pretty sure I left my paperback at a hotel which is very annoying.
