#tedium
Sounds like you are making up stories about Ukrainian people. Please keep things factual.
And I am not picking on you.
I was merely stating facts.
It is difficult to argue about facts.
So, I do understand your difficulty and angst.
If I don't respond, I am not being rude.
Just bored through tedium.

This is one of the things I hc as a big part of Handler's process we *don't* see: the hours and hours and hours of mind-shattering tedium and boredom. HUNTING gets into it a bit, with the "rhythm" of Leinth's conditioning having a lot of implied negative space to it, and it's gloriously fucked up.

Now hear me out, what if you could play a game without having to go through the tedium of "having fun" ?
January 11, 2026 at 12:59 AM
I don’t think making the game more tedious makes it more difficult or at least the tedium can really take the fun out of the game

Oscar Isaac may have brought Jacob Elordi to life but Guillermo Del Toro brought tedium to life. No doubt this was a gorgeous production but I was constantly fighting off the snooze demons throughout ...

It's also one the most realistic portrayals of military service in that most of modern military service...is just tedium and manual labor

The problem is that often the "tedium" is the base stuff needed for everything else to function. The problem with handing that over to AI is it's still often of shoddy construction and cannot support the "actual" work, it goes only by what gets put in and thus has no head for "use-case" scenarios.

I want AI to take the tedium out of my work, not to take my job so I can become a starving artist competing with AI "art".

Also whoever decided to move that bloody drum to the front corner between the park lane and shelf side, please take the bloody thing back - there’s enough tedium and doom without having that random banging ffs…

I like XP sharing 🙂‍↕️🤣 then you can swap without worrying the grind is wasted or bloated. More fun, less tedium

Because doing requests allows me to bake things without the tedium of making decisions about what that baking should be, and it means that the things I make will get eaten. Best of all worlds, really!

Automation of tedium=good
Automation of creativity=bad

The problem is that there's no clean break between creativity and tedium, the extremes are obvious but the border is fuzzy.

One person's tedium can be another's creativity.

Make no mistake, there CAN be creativity in tedium, but not always.

Funny isn’t it? The pathos & pang of “god, my young self would be devastated & appalled by this tedium” then the tender realisation that my young self was sweeter & smarter & more vulnerable than I realised, but also a buffoon & entirely unaware that ageing catches us all & staying in is delightful!

The paradoxical thing about making Minecraft's experience/enchanting system easier is that if it becomes "easier" purely by reducing tedium, the game could actually become harder. Hear me out. There are two options. One is automatic farming, and the other is slogging through the system... (1/4)

Questions that should not be asked. Ideas that should not be spoken aloud

Setting aside the fact I watched it in a drunken haze as a form of anesthesia, having gotten used to S5's mindnumbing tedium, that was, I think, a strong finale to a nothingburger season. An ending that confirms that the series, while massively overhyped, was genuinely sweet and sincere at its core.

Dead Cells has a speed-clear timer that awards equal or better loot than whatever you skipped by sprinting through early levels. It reduces the tedium and even introduces a new challenge for more experienced players.

Gotta break up the tedium of office work with something
January 10, 2026 at 12:59 AM
this stems from the societal myth that art isn't work
art is work and work always involves some amount of tedium

Oh...

Not sure how I missed this, but yeah

Honestly, aside from the time trials, these challenges didn't pose as much of a tedium for me

Sure, it's grindy, but for the most part, it's manageable imo
