“We are told by leaders that we are the future. But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes.”

Incredible speech by Violet Affleck who warned about the ongoing dangers of COVID & Long Covid, & advocated for masks and clean air at the UN today!

JPMORGAN: our US recession odds remain “at an elevated 40%.

“.. With US private payroll income now only tracking 3.1%ar in 3Q , this week’s 0.3% gain in August CPI will put inflation on track to hold real income gains to near zero.” 👀

🧪 And House appropriators say: no cuts to NIH budget!

House subcommittee version just came out (link below). Holds NIH flat at $48 billion.

To be clear: this is far from over. But a good sign that science still matters across both sides of aisle.

YOUR VOICE MATTERS!!

"Some CDC employees are bracing for what they & many medical experts say could be a death knell for the credibility of public health in America: A declaration from Kennedy that vaccines can cause autism"

This is like the NASA chief declaring the moon is really made of Swiss cheese

The CDC is falling deeper into crisis. What it means for the nation’s health.
Months of upheaval at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have undercut the agency’s work, employees said, and put the future of vaccines into doubt.

I realize it's been 5 years but how is it no one remembers the early days of the covid pandemic and how scared we were? I was waiting for medical doctors and epidemiologists to do their thing and save us. I welcomed the vaccine after I almost died. Does no one remember how bad it was?!

Some good news for dog/cat owners (but not bird/fish owners):

Owning dog or cat could preserve some brain functions as we age, study says

Fish or bird ownership showed no significant link to slower cognitive decline in study with implications for ageing societies
