I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

And it was never policy in the first place. It’s become a myth now even believed by Labour, who are busying themselves to distance from the idea they once said it.

Karen Carney, La Voix and Ellie Goldstein were my favourites tonight, but everyone was brilliant. Bring on Autumn #Strictly

After 80 years, Senate House Library has reunited a rare 14th-century manuscript looted in WWII with the Chandon family. Thanks to expert detective work, MS541 will remain accessible for study, preserving its history for future generations.

First coffee in my #LightbulbMoments mug! The exhibition opened last week at the Victoria Gallery & Museum @livuninews.bsky.social and is worth it as much for the dolphin skeleton as seeing the original manuscript of Ethel Smyth’s Mass in D on display.

If it's not too late for a New Year's Resolution, I firmly resolve to stop writing people's names onto post-it notes without further explanation, then covering up said notes with sedimentary layers of paper, thereby removing any chance of remembering why I wrote the name down in the first place.

Both in full use up here. In terms of priorities, the particular ways HEIs have been directed by government to perform & measure certain functions is probably at play, e.g. TEF & REF metrics

Composer of the Week was Domenico Scarlatti and it turns out that harpsichord sonatas are an excellent commuting soundtrack. The clatterier the better. Jean Rondeau’s A minor is fabulous, but he may damage your harpsichord www.warnerclassics.com/release/scar... @bbcradio3bot.bsky.social

I'm enjoying various threads about King & Conqueror more than the programme itself so far. My main issue is that it is TOO DARK and that everyone is dressed in brown all the time. The horse hairstyles are awesome, and I'm glad they had some women musicians.

I'm not saying "King and Conqueror" is lazy horseshit which is cynically attempting to cash in on the "tits and dragons" market, but would it have killed the programme makers to have given the right king a moustache???
