Still one of the bleakest quotes I have ever read, from one of George W Bush’s senior advisers.

“What are my people even doing on this side of the world?” is truly a question for the ages!

(And an entire word for 90% of this hemisphere… we’re here now, but how it all happened is bone chilling. Horror in real life.)
I am West Indian and childfree by choice as well. This post hits! What are my people even doing on this side of the world? Nah! I'm not passing on that generational trauma just so the machine can eat my babies alive. It ends with me.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.

At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Today, New Mexico launched its universal childcare initiative. Last month I wrote about it for Roosevelt Institute -- historic state endeavors like this should show lawmakers at all levels of government that Americans are sick and tired of waiting for bold action on childcare. shorturl.at/Sm2tZ
every time I see AI slop, I think about that post about how the existence of the uncanny valley implies that there's an evolutionary reason to be wary of something that looks human, but isn't
I'm leaning hard on building a solid routine. but man, when things get busy, it's out the window lol
not to complain, but one of the things that's difficult for me working from home is knowing what day it is

the fact that I was working Saturday morning probably doesn't help

The resentment that Republicans have is nothing like the resentment that white liberals had that the CRA and VRA made them not only the party of civil rights but the party of Black voters. The anger at the Black base since 2008 has emerged from all parts of the coalition, including leadership.
Here’s the thing the modern Democratic Party leadership sees the Civil Rights movement and their subsequent association with marginalized people in general as a great mistake and giant millstone about its neck.
The modern Democratic party established its identity by backing civil rights; the modern GOP by opposing them.

Civil rights are the values of Dem value voters—the party BASE.

The Dems lose the plot when they don’t LEAD on public opinion of civil rights. This is the lesson they don’t learn.
