Media speculating whether media will continue to speculate about something that only media is speculating about.

"Rachel Reeves will be hoping the shock resignation from the boss of the economic watchdog tonight will drown out questions about whether she misled the public about its forecasts."

If you would like to know the actual problems with the budget I set it all out in detail here.

As Stephen says the problem is the headroom isn't really there. Not that Reeves had loads of spare cash...

It does rather feel that Rachel Reeves is being relentlessly pursued for the major sin of having a comms strategy.

Every student, every lesson
When we allow the loudest voices to dominate classroom conversation, we neglect to show respect and dignity to all our students, forgetting that every voice needs to be heard.

@bphillipsonmp.bsky.social talking about the difference teachers made to her life - including Mr Hurst, who told her he expected her to go to uni, and inspired her to go. Teachers are amazing 👏 @TeachingAwards

Absolutely brilliant to be here at the @TeachingAwards to celebrate the Gold winners. It's always such an inspirational celebration of the profession, as well as the individual winners 👏

I think (I might be wrong) that Bluesky is more diffuse..discussions are less in-your-face and it doesn't feed or reward rage threads in quite the same way as Twitter. I do agree that there are less education discussions and I think this may be the low point of a wheel which will turn.

Lots of people also don't do much. They lurk. That's their choice of course, but most people feed off of engagement. If you write a blog or post and get no engagement at all, then you are not incentivised to write another!

Most people have just left social media for work purposes

There are lots of variables

I find there are still a lot of people on Twitter, but engagement is hard work across platforms

Fair. And definitely a reason people quietened on Twitter. But Bluesky does feel a more - convivial? - space #EduSky
'We have historically high welfare spending.' No we don't.

'We have a historically high proportion of working-age people not actually working.' No we don't.

'The number of Britons emigrating is skyrocketing.' No it isn't.

She says that everyone has left social media generally because it sucks: why share your views with a world that will troll you unpleasantly when you can chat with friends on what’s app or in the pub?

I get great recommendations and answers to specific questions. I think @beckyfrancis.bsky.social and others are right to suggest there isn't as much broader education discussion.
With changes to come after the curriculum review, it could be good to try to build some.

No - Does it relate?

I think the problem is lack of algorithim, so people just don't see posts. My interaction has improved since I started using the button on a persons profile, that allows you to set up notifications from a person. Your notifications become your curated feed

I think there was frustration at the lack of engagement. Why on earth would people stay if nobody is interesting in talking?

Very little take on here and, even worse, almost silence on #EarlyYears apart from the odd post. There used to be EYMatters on the other side but all discussions here are about education in general and little about early education and care.

I’m having some great conversations on here, but I think it’s harder to find them.

It’s a shame because in many ways it feels like we are at a similar inflection point to 2014/15. The purpose of education and how we meet the moment seems quite up for grabs for me. Ten years ago we had new voices driving that conversation. I’m not sure who those people are now.
