There is very little about this CR that I like—but there is even less I like about a government shutdown. With Trump & Musk taking a chainsaw to the government’s workforce & illegally freezing funding, the last thing we need to do is plunge our country into further chaos by shutting down the govt.

Stories of failed arrests due to community response are inspiring. There's been great legal work to free people, too. But this stuff is mostly a brief flash of unmarked cars, and then somebody's gone. Over and over again. No matter how many people are eager to help and want better than this.

Rogers Park and surrounding neighborhoods were hit hard by immigration enforcement activity over the weekend.

There's no competition here, but I want to name that the same heavy, violent, fast-moving abduction pattern has invaded the southwest side about three times a week for over a month now.

According to them, Republicans are once again The Real Victims™

House Redistricting Chairmen Brenden Jones (R-Columbus) and Hugh Blackwell (R-Burke) said, “We’re stepping into this redistricting battle because California and the radical left are attempting to rig the system to handpick who runs Congress. These guys are absolutely going to shoot more people.

They’ve already killed one man, shot a woman, and we’ve seen a pattern of pulling firearms on unarmed people doing nothing violent or illegal over the past few weeks.

Clearly they do not care at all about the temporary restraining orders.

Gosh, if only there was a group of people out there trained in directing traffic who could help protesters cross the road. Perhaps they could even wear matching uniforms and be paid by the city to ensure public safety.

“It has been only God’s grace alone that a protester has not been struck and killed by a motorist on 25th Avenue given how frequently protesters dash onto this busy, four-lane street,” Thompson said in a statement on Monday. “This new measure will provide for both the serenity of residents and safety of protestors.”

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.
