We talked about why we need a new mayor and then @jazzformayor.bsky.social , @omarfatehmn.com , and @dewayneforminneapolis.com laid out why they should be our next mayor. I came away excited about all of them and will rank all three!

8/ The part the public DOESN’T know is that in the firestorm after Locke’s killing, Frey called Davis, then on vacation in Mexico. Davis — fully expecting Frey to discuss how to better control MPD — instead found the mayor pleading with him to fly home & stand with Frey at a news conference.

Great wknd canvassing for @elliottpayne.org . A common theme I've noticed is how appreciative my neighbors are of his responsiveness and willingness to hear their concerns. So many people I've met door-knocking talk about the one-on-one conversations they've had with our dedicated council member.

Seeing pictures of an abandoned tamale cart in Pilsen where ICE took a tamale street vendor. Those photos of left behind carts are so haunting. Community members disappeared. Not just vendors but people who have long standing relationships with the community and people.

There were a few minutes that MPD officers were between upstanders and the ICE agents, and a couple squads lingered after they had whatever conversation they had. It's not like we knew what MPD's plans were or if they were going to leave until they left. 🤷‍♀️ Their presence is not an ignorable detail.

That second resident told us that he had called the police because of vehicles with blacked out windows and could tell something was going on. It was not my impression that he had any idea who the drivers were when he made the call.

I arrived to Jefferson St NE & 25th around 8:30 AM. Shortly after, one resident told an agent in her backyard to get off of her private property. The agent went to the neighboring yard. That resident was encouraged by the upstanders to ask the agent to leave as well.

I say ICE because that is how a neighbor told me they introduced themselves to her. None of their gear says it.

Brian Strahan supporters are making the case on the I Love NE FB group (the bad one) to vote for Brian because he’s liked by republicans. When the person initially making this point tried to then distance it from saying Trump supporters like him, the Trump supporting moderator confirmed it.
