Dismantling the Institutional Review Board (IRB), that oversees all human subjects research, is bad. Really bad.

The entire HR department at the CDC is gone. Everyone at the IRB, which makes sure studies are conducted ethically and rigorously, and the ethics office, which oversee conflicts of interest for CDC leaders and advisory committee members, were also let go.

Our current system does not actually do anything other than "remove them from society and punish them". That is not a functioning criminal justice system. That's kicking the can down the road. We should be rehabilitating people.

This is what gave us Trump. Dems avoid any policy that could improve our lives because of pressure from corporations. This is why they means test their policies until they are pointless. They exist to squash any popular economic policy from being passed. They have no connection to their base.

1) trying to deliver humanitarian aid to starving children
2) being kidnapped by Israel in international waters

An Ohio University professor who was recently detained by Israel for trying to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza has been removed from his only in-person class this semester, according to the university.

Tom Hayes, 70, was removed from teaching his in-person, master's-level film class, "Art of Editing," less than a day after he returned to Ohio from his detention in the Ktz'iot prison in the Negev Desert in Israel, he said.

Another instructor resumed in-person instruction of Hayes' class this week and will teach it for the rest of the semester, Pittman said. Students walked out on the new instructor in protest on the first day of instruction, Hayes said.

He plans on uploading his lectures to DropBox, so his students can finish his curriculum. He will also continue having online meetings with students to collaborate with them on their projects, he said.

The first thing the State Dept account did here was threaten to use Bluesky posts to strip people of visas and investigate non citizens.

EMS called to ICE facility bc protestor has broken collar bone (!). ICE agents then refuse to let EMS ambulance leave. EMS driver puts ambulance in park, which makes the vehicle lurch slightly. ICE agent then get up into the cab threatening to shoot driver in the head
