There are no words.

We are not the people we claim to be.

We are the people we refuse to look in the mirror and see.

This is incredibly concerning, there's no reasonable explanation for this stockpiling.
ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

The President is building an army to attack his own country.

Once again, EVERY R1 research university depends on federal funding for ~15-25% of its budget. You simply can't unplug the largest or 2nd-largest source of $$ of every R1 university & expect it not to have devastating consequences for graduate education, which will spill over to undergrad education.
Wow. Harvard nuking its PhD programs

- Science PhD admissions reduced by more than 75%
- Arts & Humanities reduced by about 60%

the symbolism of “Trump destroying the White House for a overpriced luxury vanity project, during a government shut down, days after a historically-large mass demonstration against his regime called “No Kings”’ would be rightly viewed as laying it on a little thick if it was in a work of fiction

I am completely awestruck by the ease with which Mike Johnson lies on a daily basis. I'll never understand how such a transparently fraudulent "man of faith" can live with themselves. Life is too short to be that phony.

For days, I’ve been talking to a woman whose loved one has disappeared into ICE system. The torture of not knowing where this person is and what’s going to happen to them - it reminds me of covering the parents searching for the bodies of their missing kids in Mexico. No answers. No good answers.

If you care about the rule of law, you should furious that Rep. McIver is forced to defend herself against trumped-up, bogus charges today while so many legitimate criminals are being ignored or pardoned by Trump & his cronies. thehill.com/regulation/c...

CNBC: Can you explain why beef prices have soared to point where we're thinking about importing beef from Argentina, the same country that's selling all their soybeans to China? To soybean farmers that must be like, 'You're kidding me'

Congress gave ICE a massive slush fund to build out its masked secret police force. It’s also building a mass surveillance structure to monitor & spy on anyone & everyone — including U.S. citizens.

This country is sleepwalking into full autocracy. We need to snap out of this inertia & fight back.

This is crap. I’ve known actual Hawaiian kids who have applied. It’s hard to get in…2 from each state…
It’s an important part of knowing who they are and keeping alive heritage.
Blum of Students For Fair Admissions (SFFA) is targeting the Kamehameha Schools-privately run schools founded by descendants of King Kamehameha in 1887 (before the overthrow and annexation of the Kingdom by the U.S.) Refusing all federal funds, the schools aim to preserve Native Hawai'ian culture./1

As @brianbeutler.bsky.social notes in his useful reflections on No Kings, it's critical that many older white people protested. Sends clear signal that the mainstream is anti-MAGA:

@anamariecox.bsky.social and I theorized this a bit in our discussion as well.
The number of good people has always outweighed the number of bad, but the number of indifferent people has also always outweighed the number of good.

Until the lives of the indifferent is dire - and they are finally forced to choose - it is always a struggle with more spectators than participants.

Oooooo, interesting. Somebody on the Ninth Circuit was quite unhappy with the baloney order justifying the National Guard in Oregon. (They also likely believe there's a good shot at reversal before the whole Circuit en banc, or they wouldn't have done this.)
BREAKING: A Ninth Circuit judge has sua sponte — on their own — already called for a vote on whether there should be an en banc rehearing (which means all active judges will vote on whether the matter should be reheard). Briefing is called for on that question, due by mid-week.

This seems like a stupid question, but why isn’t the White House protected as a Historical Home?
