the list of things that needs to be done to repair this country is extensive but high up on it is breaking the power of the tech lords

they are convinced they are untouchable feudal barons whose money allows them to dictate everyone else's life and they must be disabused of that notion

Thinking about that time the My Little Pony comics, of all things, absolutely bodied Scott Adams.
Close up of Pinkie Pie looking at a newspaper comic saying “Hmpf. I thought these were supposed to be funny?”

The comic is called Ponybert by Trot Adams. It opens with a building and we see a word balloon that says “Well?” The second panel is of Ponybert, the Dilbert stand-in saying “No one is smart but me.”

My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.
On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

gotta say it’s just fascinating how normie libs have reacted to Trump with “this man is destroying the very fabric of our nation; we will need to pack the courts and hold truth and reconciliation commissions”

while billionaire libs have been like “ya know what this guy actually seems cool”

For years, San Franciscans considered him the rare big-hearted billionaire. But days before his Dreamforce conference begins, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said he would support President Trump sending the National Guard to SF and that Trump is doing “a great job.”

Folks, you can't report the United States to its manager. There's no superhero coming to save us.

We don't need one giant act of heroism. We need millions of small acts of solidarity. Help one person in your community for nothing in return. Then, do it again. And again.

That's the revolution.

UPDATE: Judge Perry issued an opinion explaining why she blocked the Texas National Guard deployment in Chicago.

She begins with Alexander Hamilton’s rejection of a “preposterous” idea that the Constitution lets a President deploy a State’s militia to a different State for political retribution. 🧵
OPINION AND ORDER
Since this country was founded, Americans have disagreed about the appropriate division
of power between the federal government and the fifty states that make up our Union. This
tension is a natural result of the system of federalism adopted by our Founders. And yet, not even
the Founding Father most ardently in favor of a strong federal government believed that one
state's militia could be sent to another state for the purposes of political retribution, calling such
a suggestion "inflammatory," and stating "it is impossible to believe that [a President] would employ such preposterous means to accomplish their designs." But Plaintiffs contend that such
an event has come to pass, and argue that National Guard troops from both Illinois and Texas
have been deployed to Illinois because the President of the United States wants to punish state elected officials whose policies are different from his own.

Yes ultimately many Dem electeds are afraid to give police under their command lawful orders because they think they will not be obeyed and the consequences that fact would have for them and for their state.
impemboganecue.bsky.social
It’s easy to call out Pritzker on this but something darker may be happening here. I’m not sure if he is secretly helping Trump behind the scenes. I think he’s terrified to test whether state police would obey him at all if he used them against the feds

The status of FWS vs Scottish Government in media discourse is so interesting because so many people are suddenly pretending to believe that a court ruling determines reality. If the case had gone the other way they'd be screeching about woke judges.

“Of course they’re wrong. Their job is to look at what has been legislated for. The legislation is wrong and we should get back to parliamentarians who actually stand by trans people.”
