Give that in Greek “stupid” is Ηλίθιος (elethios - ish) maybe for some "governments" we could mention, it might be useful to call them an "elethiocracy". It's not a word I can find in a dictionary, more’s the pity, but I kind of like it.

As a Dunelm person it quietly amuses me that the reason that place exists is that Balliol founded it as a penance for being a right dick to a Bishop of Durham. Buggers wouldn't let us actually have a University up here for centuries though.

Honestly, if I did this when I was involved in UG teaching I'd have been *ashamed*.

And I'd have expected to receive a talking to from someone more senior for poor practice at the very least.

I know I sound like the people in the early days of the internet here, but re education the answer seems obvious - don’t use it! Not all learning needs to be done on a computer! The idea that it does is extremely new!

Exactly why I warned undergraduates yesterday that they'd probably be the last generation to learn pre-AI and those skills will be in demand in future cyber attacks.
You need to be able to write with a pencil if your keyboard packs up.

OpenAI’s strategy is very clear, it’s trying to get people - especially young people - so reliant on its products intellectually & emotionally (& now sexually!) that going without them becomes unthinkable. And they need signs of that strategy working to keep the funding flowing in
