Escalating, boosting your partner, etc. I do think reveals are tricky in RPGs because, unless it’s pretty specifically (and more obviously than in other media) set up, they fall flat
A good portion takes place in the head of each person at the table and we don’t have the focus a book or film gives

I think the thing that people overlook is I see rule of cool used a lot to avoid interesting things happening.

We have to teach people how to make strong and interesting decisions in improv and I think rule of cool is used to make the center of the road choices I see new improvisers make

Luis is right.

This is the fundamental problem with the rule of cool: it conditions a play culture where the table doesn’t have to learn about the game they’re playing.

I found that a certain group of players found every „No“ they encountered via rules or setting as something perceived as bad. While I think that boundaries and limits are necessary to facilitate a certain experience while playing.

When Quinns released his Play To Find Out and it was Nobilis, I figured I'd finally bite the bullet and get Nobilis 2nd edition before it got to expensive.

Found it for $130 and ordered it.
Literally two minutes later, on the discord, someone said, "I find it for $130!" but I already had it.

If Smallville were still directly available, that one (probably). As it is, you'd have to put it together with Cortex Prime, which is easy---if you know Cortex.

Aces & Eights is a trad game so there are things they'll likely be used to but it's got a lot of cool systems in it.

I really enjoyed Aces & Eights. It's extremely crunchy but does wild west extremely well if you want a Red Dead 2 feel.

When I've done a more Deadwood style game, I used Cortex Prime/Smallville to have one that felt more like a TV show.

Listening to people say D&D has no negative bearing on the indie creative space at large has me tweaking.

This is a creative monopoly unlike anything seen before or ever. I have a list of marketing outreach channels where 95 out of a 100 contacts exclusively cover D&D/OSR (D&D adjacent)...
