No preorder or cover yet, but my next book, "Lo Nuns!" is a set of stories set in a late medieval pseudo-Europe. As normal (for me) there are loads of lesbian and transfem nuns, and they do more than just pray.
By the grace of the Saints (also mostly trans) please prepare to get hype!

The other thing that is notable about this is that the moment he received pushback, Piers just collapses into a sputtering mess.

This class of 'pundit' has become so used to going unchallenged that they literally don't know how to deal with it. Embarrassing it took so long for this to be exposed.

Is a "A Rotten Girl" as cringe-inducing as the summary implies? Yes absolutely.

But also as someone incredibly susceptible to second hand embarrassment I still read the entire thing in a day, giggling the entire time, 10/10.

Oh yeah, book promo.

"A Rotten Girl" is my literary satire that features the worst transfem getting involved in the worst industry, publishing. Serious, funny, angry, cringe-tastic; I am very proud of it.

The cover of "A Rotten Girl"; a woman's face, with her eyes hidden by a rough band of white.

Text reads:
Pearl is a trans woman writer on the cusp of literary greatness... or so she thought until her agent informs her that her first book has sunken like a stone for its failure to "connect with normal people". Normal people. Heterosexual people. Cisgender people.

Jaded from the knowledge that this industry rarely lets in people like her, Pearl comes up with a plan: write a commercial male/male romance. Except the market's all about authenticity these days, isn't it? The plan gets complicated, drawing her into a web of escalating deceptions where she poses as a cisgender gay man and comes ever closer to destroying all her relationships, and her own life.

A Rotten Girl is a satirical drama that explores gender, public personas, the commodification of queerness—and the reality of what it is like to be a trans woman in a hostile world.

“This entire meditation on the pseudofeminism underpinning this market is so focused and cutting, you can't help but marvel at it.” - Talia Bhatt

Apparently, people need to know that you have written books before they can read them!
Proper authors plug every day; I tend to go "oh shit, promo" every so often!

Also features Tuc biscuits, and yet still no sponsorship from Jacobs.
A packet of tuc biscuits, mostly empty. A tuc biscuit is before it; it consists of two crackers with a cheesy cream between them.

A lot of LLM evangelists really don't get that they are going, "Hey, I see you do a lot of cryptic crosswords; well, this app will save you loads of time. It will do them for you! Okay, badly, but it will improve! What do you say?"
Even if it worked (and it doesn't) it is taking away the fun part!

People who think the idea of "give me ideas" is something genuinely creative people want have literally never experienced the absolute EUPHORIA of a brainstorming breakthrough, either solo or with a human collaborator. They don't understand what is happening when artists create, on a basic level.

Episode Four is now out wherever you get your podcasts!

Give it a listen for amusing discussions on made-up slurs, and much less amusing discussions on how a religious studies dissertation from the 70s was turned into a book whose transphobic policy prescriptions are largely followed today.

It is always right and just to loathe anthropologists, we're a wretched class of know-it-alls who refuse to take people at their word in favour of our own pet theories.

Being a trans woman in anthropology is a fucking trip every time gender comes up though man it's SO bad.

I hate cis anthropologists I hate cis anthropologists I hate cis anthropologists I hate cis anthropologists
Muxes identify with lo femenino or
what is feminine and many dress in traditional female attire, but they are not gen-
erally seeking to be transgender, or to be accepted as women. The gay men I interviewed were even more emphatic and quick to differentiate
themselves from muxes. Mario, an articulate twenty-four-year-old gay man, for
example, said that
For me a muxe is a man who identifies as a woman and likes to dress like a woman. I
am not muxe. I am gay because I have never wanted to dress like a woman or to be one.
They work in female trades. I know I am a man.

Anthropologist: Hmm, these people seem to know what they are. People near them also seem to know what they are.
Anthropologist: But none of them are anthropologists; so I had better make up what I think they really are.
Anthropologist: I'm doing science!

Which seems quite woke for a very privileged bloke in 1847.

What I am saying, is any time-travellers, please offer Tennyson some estrogen and a book on feminism. Her Dorley fanfic will be incredible.
jemma.bsky.social
And they are sadly expelled from this centre of feminine excellence.

Then it turns a bit crap, with the prince explaining to the princess how to do feminism correctly. (His mother taught him the secret technique!)

But, even so, it makes no bones about men and women being equal.
jemma.bsky.social
Was Alfred Tennyson an egg?

I read The Princess and, well, a prince (and his friends) dress as women, and join a women's university. They are very impressed by the learning (and the other girls, by the imposter's height) but the prince is clocked on account of insufficient voice training...

I've had this pose for Hades (The Hades Calculus) in mind for a while, but it never materialized quite as clearly until last night. A goddess so somber as the lord of the machine dead should stand as a statue, a monolith, so that even the cracks on her facade may speak more of power than frailty.
A woman seen from the front, wearing heavy black robes that cover all but her arms and a long v neck down to the navel. Her body and robes bear glowing golden cracks, breaking into spots of light and smoke. On the background, a stylized pomegranate tree with unfeasibly large fruit.
