Remember when RFK Jr. challenged Senator Wyden to a mailbag size contest?

Defend Public Health has a new campaign. You can help prove that scientists and healthcare workers do not, in fact, support RFK Jr.’s agenda by sending Senator Wyden a postcard.

Click on the link below to get started.
Help Prove RFK Jr. is Wrong | Defend Public Health
When Senator Wyden stated he’d heard from thousands of doctors and scientists concerned by RFK Jr’s policies, Kennedy responded "I'll put my mailbag against your mailbag any day.” Let's prove Kennedy ...

Shoutout to Huntrx and Saja Boys for helping get my daughter up early for middle school.

Thanks to neighbors for welcoming her belting out K-pop Demon Hunters lyrics at 7:30 as she waits for the bus

Congrats to Lisa Murkowski on voting for a bill that she herself admitted was not ready in hopes that the House would change it. Now it’ll become law. She had the power to stop it, and instead chose to become complicit. That’s her legacy.

As a brown person living in Manhattan when 9/11 happened I know racism and Islamophobia never went away but boy is it not great to log on every day and see politicians being so gleefully awful toward a guy who looks like me and my family

There are two kinds of people we’re fighting in public health — antivaxxers and minimizers. And minimizers are almost worse than antivaxxers. With antivaxxers, bad is clearly bad — they lie, twist facts, push grifts, and spread disinformation. They do what we expect them to do.

Wow. I have never seen something like this in Bangla. “Hashi Kusshi” and “Karap na”. Nailed it.

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

the mainstream media has been steadily buying into the idea that science and academia are somehow "captured" by left and liberal ideologues, rather than the more obvious explanation that measured analysis leads people away from reactionary thought

My University has told us that despite growing ug and grad majors, we are losing a TT history position (not filling line of departing prof). Today they announced they hired a new "chief artificial intelligence strategist." Guess how I feel about this.

Every future imagined by a tech company is worse than the previous iteration.
OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, has a plan to overhaul college education — by embedding its artificial intelligence tools in every facet of campus life.
If the company’s strategy succeeds, universities would give students A.I. assistants to help guide and tutor them from orientation day through graduation. Professors would provide customized A.I. study bots for each class. Career services would offer recruiter chatbots for students to practice job interviews. And undergrads could turn on a chatbot’s voice mode to be quizzed aloud ahead of a test.
OpenAI dubs its sales pitch “A.I.-native universities.”

Tip for PhD applicants reaching out to prospective advisors: Don’t use an LLM to write these emails. It’s not a great first impression to express your admiration for a recent paper the faculty member published if that paper does not exist.
