New from Francisco Rodríguez, myself, and Giancarlo Bravo:

That recent counter-intuitive @cgdev.org piece by Bahar and Hausmann suffers fatal flaws, starting with a Stata programming error. We fall back on the intuitive conclusion that U.S. economic conditions drive encounters at the border
Do Venezuelan Oil Revenues Drive Migration to the US? A Reappraisal of the Bahar and Hausmann Results
We show that their results are driven by a flawed empirical specification that appears to be the result of a coding error.

Yeah. I’m running. You are the asshole

You see yourself in this photo? 😂

“I am not selling anything just suggesting that if you want to move to the Holy Land that you consider purchasing stolen land from someone else”

JJ here like “Elon Musk wasn’t LITERALLY selling us Trump with the hundreds of millions he spent on the campaign”

Reading between the lines, it sounds like the captains of Boston University's cross country team want the ICE snitch off their team, and they're upset that the Dept of Athletics won't make it happen

Israel has held 16-year-old American, Mohammed Ibrahim, without trial, for 9 months.

He has been denied contact with family & his health is deteriorating. He says he falsely confessed to throwing a rock after being beaten.

America needs to secure his release NOW.

Strong points from Sarah Hurwitz: "Our key mistake was giving Jewish children brains that think and hearts that feel, and then encouraging them to use them. This naturally leads them to sympathize with Palestinians. We should consider removing our kids' brains & hearts until they turn 45."

It’s a misconception that Boston driving is bad. It’s different but I found Boston drivers more predictable than drivers anywhere else. That made driving in Boston quite smooth. Gotta look out for NY and CT plates though…

Yes. I was most of the way through the video when it vanished. Just dunno what happened

Did this get taken down? Made to be taken down? Glitched?
Getting journal rejections like

I'm impressed he heard about this at all. It's so unlike him to keep up with anything the executive branch does

The thing is that I'm temperamentally agreeable to the idea that you should avoid protesting places of worship altogether or to the best of your ability, but this is qualitatively different from claiming that there's nothing illegal or wrong being done when hosting an org that promotes settlement.
In honor of Larry Summers, I asked the female members of my college class (1987) to say if they had any experiences with sexual harassment by teachers/professors, back when this was tolerated as, I dunno, the cost of attending college, and OH MY GOD.

Have you read Charles Peters' "A Neoliberal's Manifesto"?

Like who are you trying to appeal to? And with the Islamophobia it starts to answer. Add in the AI boosterism and well…

Read “Palo Alto” by Malcolm Harris

Yeah struggled for a word there but never thought “entirely” would fit. “Arguably” “partially” whatever. My point is that the word has swung wildly in connotation and it’s deeply weird that at this point someone would take a go at “New Liberal” when we have all seen what became of “neoliberal”

It is abhorrent that the President just threatened death upon members of Congress.

We must condemn all threats of political violence, especially when they come from someone who has incited a violent attack on the Capitol.

Huh. There are very loud Christian voices that are very misogynistic and rabidly anti LGBTQ and yet we don't have the same freakout about the fact that Christians are more than 10% of the population

Whatever these Bay Area people are, they don't seem any more liberal than Nazis were socialist. It's branding not philosophy. And it's a sign of weakness

This shit needs to go whether liberal or "liberal"

Islamophobia is absolutely a problem in liberal circles

"Liberal" has in my political lifetime gone from being an epithet (undeserved) from the right to something reclaimed by the center-left(ish) to an epithet from the left (reasonably deserved)

Oof

Meh

I’m gonna say I’m broccoli hesitant until there is a proper study ruling out the possibility that broccoli causes measles

Studies supporting a link have been ignored by health authorities
The U.S. government is now inarguably spreading medical disinformation that is going to kill babies preferentially.

Period.

This is an INTOLERABLE. UNPRECEDENTED. DANGEROUS. ATTACK. ON ALL OF US.
