I don't know if there's such a thing as a "world cyberwar" but I think we are in one? and the US is determined to lose it. 🧵

Today the admin is mass-firing the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the nation's cybersecurity protection across all levels of government.

For some context the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly report in addition to being just a good read, to quote wikipedia, "is the main vehicle for publishing public health information and recommendations that have been received by the CDC from state health departments. "

BREAKING: Friday night massacre underway at CDC. Doznes of "disease detectives," high-level scientists, entire Washington staff and editors of the MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) have all been RIFed and received the following notice:

MAGA and its agenda are *wildly* unpopular, and media are hugely out of touch for not saying so. Politicians who tap into this reality will thrive, and media outlets that reflect this truth will earn enormous audiences.

Voters in California who live more than 50 miles from a USPS regional mail center must mail their VBM ballots AT LEAST ONE DAY BEFORE ELECTION DAY to ensure they're postmarked on time and counted. Ballots mailed on ED will be postmarked the following day, making them ineligible.

They know they are ridiculous people and the thing they hate most is being laughed at. They want everyone terrified and intimidated by how MANLY and LETHAL they are, not laughing because they got got by a grating frog.

This video is everywhere because it's a hilarious visual refutation of Portland being on fire. You can't get a mass movement going without convincing the masses

so yes, this does do something actually

This literally does nothing. You are not beating fascism by dressing up in inflatable suits and dancing

Portland is leading the way. This is how you (non violently) beat Fascism. Humor and ridicule are key.

"Dude, you gotta listen to this song about fatherhood optimization."

AI dudes hear the song “Cat’s in the Cradle” and think “oh, cool, that’s the kinda dad I want to be!”

This what happens when you teach all STEM and no humanities, people who think machines are the solution to every problem, including the stuff of being human.

*That's what a relationship is.
matthewfederman.bsky.social
The premise of every AI person applying it to creative writing is "wouldn't it be great to not have to do the hard part?" It's like using AI to give your significant other someone to talk to at the end of the day so you can skip that part. Like, what a relationship is.

Their misunderstanding of how creativity works is only matched by their misunderstanding of David Simon.
junoryleejournalism.com
David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Have we considered just making up awards to dangle in front of him? A Nobel for Economic Justice, an Oscar for Anti-Corruption?
theatlantic.com
The Israel-Hamas peace agreement “grew directly out of Trump’s desperate thirst for the Nobel,” Jonathan Chait argues. “If dangling the award in front of Trump encourages him to work hard to end conflicts,” we must wonder what will happen if he gets it:
Trump’s Nobel Thirst Is Actually Great for the World
The president’s ego inspires plenty of bad choices, but his desire for a Peace Prize is proving useful.

One of the Trump Administration's most openly fascist moments and CNN edits it out.

Tells you everything you need to know about a news network that has a firm policy against telling you everything you need to know.

Stephen Miller said the quiet part out loud. Trump has “plenary authority,” then suddenly went silent. Their plan wasn’t to be public yet. Clearly, someone hit the panic button in his earpiece.

It gets weirder: CNN uploaded the interview with the “plenary authority” comment edited out.

I think it's starting to be forgotten that joining the National Guard was originally a commitment to to serve in unforeseen emergencies, almost always natural disasters. You might get called up every second or third hurricane season. The second Gulf War changed all that and now... now, what is this?

They sent us home during a shutdown.

Bring Congress back. Swear @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social in. It’s time to vote to release the Epstein Files.
