I've avoided commenting on this story because there's just been too much speculation and ugliness in the FB posts around it but @rayroa.bsky.social does a good job of pulling some details together. Love the shade former Mayor Freedman throws at Castor for not having a comment.
Former Tampa City Council candidate flashes gun at forum, stealing attention from otherwise successful debate

The trailblazing transgender rights activist Miss Major has passed away at the age of 78.

Miss Major was a lifelong organizer and participant in the ballroom scene. She took part in the 1969 Stonewall Riots and was injured by the police — but she kept fighting.

it's kinda weird that all the software i am expected to use for work are all written by distributed teams, go, python, postgres, linux, chrome, k8s etc

and despite being told "the best teams work in an office together" i don't know of any software i use that's actually written that way

This is it. 86,791 words. 836 emdashes. 625 `const`, 141 `let`, 16 `var`. One (1) reference to the pause music from Battletoads for the NES.

Spread the word: JavaScript for Everyone launches tomorrow.
A Majora's-Mask-style "Dawn of The Final Day. 24 Hours Remain" title card, but using the JavaScript for Everyone Atari-style type and branding. The background is made up of two low-angle perspective views of rectangles on grids that meet at a sharp line, resembling a horizon.

I also provided a sample of the transcript text with initial prompt explaining what I wanted to clean up.

Friend asked if I had any tricks for cleaning up the raw transcript text for some research they're doing. Didn't have mental capacity to dig in, but did throw it at Claude with caveat wanted to be able to host on GH Pages. It spit out a nice single `index.html` with vanilla JS that's "good enough."

This is an extremely niche tool but if you find yourself wanting to copy from the city provided transcripts of council meetings into more readable text, I whipped up a quick tool.

It's a 1 run game but the way Toronto pitching is dealing, it feels like a much bigger lead.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?
A tweet from Bari Weiss that says “"It's shaken me to my core," a lieutenant said of Mamdani's unexpected victory in June. "The absolute dread I feel is palpable.
"
Today in @TheFP our @Olivia_Reingold talks to the cops who say they will walk if Zohran Mamdani is elected in November:”

Bluesky is a product-and-community-first company. Our differentiating advantage vs existing social platforms is a protocol which provides both credible exit (which speaks to lock-in/rug-pull concerns for big accounts + devs) and a diverse ecosystem of interoperable apps and services.
brunodias.bsky.social
so is bluesky a pure proof of concept that's meant to wind itself down by people decamping for other atproto services, or is it a social media platform that bluesky inc owns and operates?

“Michael, there are people with 20 years of experience and there are people with 1 year of experience they’ve been doing for 20 years.”

No, the junior dev would just be subjected to a humiliating public raking in a code review.

I've never worked with a large software team beyond distributed open source projects so I'm not the best to comment on that end of the equation.

I think solo builders have a different perspective.

Isn’t writing code thinking like the machine?
