1. This is illegal as it makes enforcement of the Fair Housing Act of 1968 effectively impossible.

While this is going on here, ICE has been spotted on foot + in vehicles across SW + NW sides of Chicago. Can't verify reports rn, but also presuming suburbs. Yesterday was brutal. It's not lost on us they have more agents free for weekend kidnappings now with their facility secured by state police.

Bystander filming asks man for his name. ICE agent lies and says he’s not allowed to speak to him “by law” and another says “We’ve arrested American citizens for being too close…If he gets any closer, put him in cuffs.”

What drives me nuts about this dialogue: diversity and inclusion training was a corporate response to the statutory requirements civil rights laws. None of these laws have been repealed by Congress. Congress can pass the laws under Section 5 of the 14th Amendment, which has also not been repealed.

Of all the news in this NYT survey of sitting federal judges - incl 47 of them think the SCt is mishandling its emergency docket - maybe the biggest is that 65 sitting fed judges (37D, 28R), folks circumspect for a living, responded to a NYT survey.
