I keep being told spending cuts are easy. Honest proposals such as those recently outlined by Policy Exchange show they are not

If the experience of my planning reforms is anything to go by I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about these PX proposals making the statute book.

Prediction: Danny Kruger and Nigel Farage will fall out by Christmas and Kruger will either form his own party or be an independent by this time next year.

It's called "Carswell's law."

I should’ve learned this by now but DO NOT use FedEx. The diseased monkeys I ordered haven’t arrived and I can’t get a straight answer on what happened to them

The Times has fallen so far. While it still has many great writers, it is increasingly a vehicle for its Mail-brained editor’s obsessive prejudices
In the last few days, the Times has had to delete two stories. One because someone pretended to be former Mayor Bill de Blasio to a reporter and one because they wrote up nonsense about Torsten Bell's expenses.

Needs a new editor badly.

Increasingly I think the point of a wealth tax is not to raise money but to create space for raising income tax. The lethal thing in politics is when the compliant middle class feels like they have been taken for mugs; if you want to get money out of them, someone else needs to pay more too.

Sorry I can't get over this but it's just so funny to say "The test starts off with giraffes and elephants but the questions get way harder than that"

I know this is obvious. And I know we all know this.
But if the President can raise taxes because an advert annoyed him, without even consulting Congress, then the US constitution is simply not functioning as intended.

Found out about this one from the Labour press release condemning it, and it was a real trip to learn that this wasn’t “a Labour staffer with a tape recorder at a private event” story but a “she just said it on national TV” story.
