Voters have given reporters a big mandate to ask follow-up questions of Republican office-holders.

Jay Jones winning means we have not successfully bracketed in what a Democratic politician can say about Republicans

This is another thing! For all the worry about ICE agents posted outside polling places, that would been a lot easier to prove out in an off year election with action in a very limited number of places, and there was none.
So this election was about as total as it gets, and in an off-year, with large amounts of contravening evidence to the idea that the 2024 Trump coalition was in any way durable and no evidence of GOP rigging, if happening, having significant impact. Just a blue flood.

they’re going to make the entire 2026 midterms about trans kids in bathrooms and they are going to get absolutely dunked to hell

protect trans kids: it’s the right thing to do and you’re going to win
i genuinely think they believe that the they/them ads won the election and not like, anger over inflation

and so they'll keep trying to double down on social issues
i see we learned nothing from the millions wasted by WES

one thing that other candidates need to learn from mamdani is how to deliver the most cold blooded attacks on an opponent with a smile on your face

I wonder how the council of unelected law wizards is handling tonight. Well, Alito's sorted: he's about to fly several flags that they don't let you display in Germany

that’s absurd, i think it’s entirely believable that bill ackman offered him ten million dollars to drop out and sliwa told him to gargle his balls and everyone should know that
i mean knowing Sliwa it’s also entirely possible he made that up on the spot lol

Trump still has the power of the regulatory state and can abuse it for three more years or whenever his body gives out, whichever comes first
At this point, anyone—a university, a law firm, a corporation, a Democrat—bending the knee to Trump is doing it because they want to, not because of any political reality.

Democrats have flipped 2 seats in the Mississippi senate, and in so doing they've broken the GOP's supermajority in the chamber.

The 2024 election was not a binding referendum on American culture that everyone must accept and accommodate. Never was.

pundits triangulating how many people p go under the OrphanCrusher3000, meanwhile fedland winemoms and meemaws are voting for whoever promises to put trump into a blender

We can send two republicans to the unemployment line, and keep the dem seats relatively safe.

The map looks outrageous, but what MAGA is doing to this country is so much worse. This is how we win back power and make people’s lives better

this is essentially the Whitmer playbook. She campaigned on very simple issues, and then once she had a majority, turned the woke meter up to twenty thousand

the ur-winemom crown is there for Spanberger to pick up if she wants it/can pull it off. the moderate governors ain't doing great right now

hopefully this applies to Spanberger and Right to Work
WE NEED MORE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES WHO LIE

this sincerely is just misogyny. this is people who internalized, above all else, that the lessons of the 2010s was "girlboss bad." and, that's why women are losing rights now. because there was never anything wrong with "girlbosses," and we lied to a generation of young women about this.
Screenshotted because I don’t want an army of diphshits fouling my mentions but like… *what?^ Liz Lemon was not a villain unless you just… don’t like women for some reason. The only 30 Rock character who would be a villain if you redid the show today would be Jack Donaghy.
im sure they will keep the 2021 precedent that the opposing party winning the VA governorship invalidates any mandate the president had and means that the current party in power needs to move to the center.

Trump won in 2024 by 1.5%pts and the press acted like he got a mandate to be god-emperor, can’t wait for them to be dismissive of victories in places the Democratic Party hasn’t won in 20 years

Runoff! Guess what, Abbott can wait another six months before setting that one, too!
Texas has a special election for Sylvester Turner's seat (TX-18), a full seven months after he died, because Abbott capriciously delayed it.

A simple, long overdue reform would be for Congress to mandate by federal law how soon after a vacancy special elections have to happen.

On the Wall, Writing Spotted by Republicans
(AP) — Kansas’ Republican House leader on Tuesday dropped efforts to force a redraw of U.S. House districts that would have thrust the state into a widening national battle for partisan advantage in the 2026 elections

THE MAJORITY of money spent by Winsome Earle-Sears and outside groups in Virginia went to anti-trans ads. The GOP needs a new playbook after tonight. Voters are tired of this song.

Ideally “Dems are out of touch with the voters” talk would be ethered after tonight but I do wonder how pundits will try to work back to it tomorrow. Totally ignore this even happened, perhaps?
