If kids aren’t allowed the internet until 16, adults should over 50 shouldn’t have it either.

Also more people referencing the Turing test need to learn about the Chinese Room.
If we are banning cell phones for kids we need to be talking about banning chatbots for boomers

the Oscars are a great fit for film youtube in the sense that they’re amazing but ultimately good for at most one four-hour video once per year.

Life advice:
- Never let anyone else tell you who you are
- Everyone overrestimates what they can do in 1 year, and underestimates what they can do in 10 years
- The tomb of your mentor contains a sacred sword
- The sword will whisper secrets to you
- Follow its guidance to unite the five crystals

With MCP becoming a standard, are we going to get /.well-known/mcp as an endpoint to expose any web service to an agent? 🤔 Seems like it could be a good idea, so you could just give a bot a url and it would be able to find the MCP

Upgraded from the old Dell monitor I'd been using since time immemorial to a LG Ultragear with 240 Hz refresh rate. I was expecting to see a big improvement in gaming on my PC, but I wasn't expecting to also see a big improvement in clarity on macOS too.

you know how when I get asked what I want to see in CSS, one of the things I say is a fictional "font-size: fit-container"? It's this. This is the thing I wanted. hooray!

Big acquisitions of stuff like this often puts a burden on maintainers to make the framework work *for* the business above everything else too.

I’ve seen that happen even with our favourites over the years.

The tech tool carousel - Andy Bell
I recently described what I call “the carousel” to some fellow nerds so I thought I’d write about it. I’m a lot of years into this web thing and I’ve seen a lot of “game changers” come and go. It’s al...

Very much regretting upgrading to Tahoe. Something about Electron apps is grossly unoptimized, causing a beach ball after I type anything in one. Beach balls even on cmd-tabbing to a different window, or scrolling.

Is there anyone who uses a mouse with a scrollwheel, who scrolls using their middle finger? I always think this must be more comfortable, because it lets my hand remain in the normal mousing position. But I have always scrolled with my index finger.

Very strange the Discord doesn't have a way to DM yourself? I use this all the time in Slack to write drafts of messages before I send them, so no one in any real channel will the see the "someone is typing..." notification as I inevitably over-edit my message.

Shit flows downhill. When you're an executive, your outputs become someone else's problem. When you're doing the implementation, the gap in every half-assed idea and slipshod assumption becomes visible & it's your responsibility to fix it.
A new global study shows that AI adoption varies by seniority, with 87% of executives using it on the job, compared with 57% of managers and 27% of employees. It also finds that executives are 45% more likely to use the technology on the job than Gen Zers …
