Hey, everybody! I’m Akil and I write and draw riso-comics about black folks.

📊 #Dataviz PSA: When using areas to depict numbers, make sure you are indeed scaling the *area*, and not the width/length/diameter of the circles (or other shapes). Because software such as Illustrator don’t let you specify the area directly, you need do a small calculation to get it right. 1/2

Things are really bad right now but it does sometimes help to remember that this cultural moment for trans people is an entirely manufactured psyop in terms of its perceived level of scale. I believe in my heart of hearts that a majority of people just don't give a shit.

Fat phobia is prejudice: unethical, not philosophically sound, born of an ugly past that is actually rooted in oppression, and also, it’s just deeply uncool. It’s IN NO WAY an effective weapon against fascism. In fact, it’s got roots in elitist, classist, racist and fascist ideology

I don’t love the confluence of fat phobia & anti fascism. It’s a dissonance as these things do not go together.

Don’t conflate fat w/ fascism, because one is a moral failing and desire for authoritarianism while the other is genetics, or illness, or love of cake or none your bizness.
