Sometimes I think phones have ruined the art of photography. But, on the other hand, without them it’s likely I’d not have this official record of the time I was chased through a wildflower meadow by a small enthusiastic pig.

NEW: Humanitarian officials staged a last-minute plea to Trump officials at their fancy hotel to re-start food aid $ for a huge refugee camp in Kenya.

The Trumpers blew it off and babies starved.

I don’t give a shit if it’s just for “exploring ideas” or whatever lame fuck ass excuse you have for using gen AI. You are using it. You know how it works, you know the harm it
does and you are still fucking using it.
“oh you know it’s just used to develop concept art no biggie teehee”

the guy who ignored the aids crisis? And called black people horrible things behind doors? And is responsible for pretty much every horrible thing happening in America today?
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

If your concept artists feel they have to use AI 'for exploration' its likely that your demands for the quantity/quality of the work vs time are too high?

Like..thats what sketching is for.

But some clients will not look at sketches, it always has to look like "concept art" [ polished paintings ]
If I had known the two paragraphs about genAI in my article today would be so controversial, I would have expanded them a bit! Here's a rough transcript of the relevant portion of my interview with Swen Vincke, so everyone has all the context. (Full article here: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...)

So the guy himself is saying they arent really even seeing productivity gains? He said they are just using AI because they are afraid of being left behind. He is inviting this public scorn by repeating techbro talking points for no benefit at all. The mind of a CEO is fascinating.

the enthusiasm for generative AI would not have been possible without prior decades of capitalist conditioning to view works of art as products, rather than acts of culture and shared human life
I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.
I have grown to believe that excessive wealth does something to your brain that is analogous to a serious head injury

WTF @larianstudios.com, you’re supposed to be better than this. There is *no* legitimate, defensible reason to use the planet-destroying plagiarism machine for any purpose whatsoever. I was greatly looking forward to Divinity, but not anymore.
NEW: I spoke to Larian boss Swen Vincke about their ambitions for their new RPG Divinity, cutting down development time, pressures from Baldur's Gate 3, why BG3 wouldn't have happened without Tencent, how Larian uses generative AI, and much more www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

Congress passed the most important criminal justice reform law in a generation seven years ago.

But the First Step Act was just that—a first step. We must continue reform.

So, I just introduced four bipartisan bills to help make our justice system fairer and communities safer.

ai detection is, itself, a bullshit ai product. it is attempting to statistically classify language and draw a non-statistical conclusion about who wrote it and how.
“More than 40% of surveyed 6th- to 12th-grade teachers used AI detection tools during the last school year, according to a nationally representative poll by the Center for Democracy and Technology…”
Teachers are using software to see if students used AI. What happens when it's wrong?
School districts from Utah to Ohio to Alabama are spending thousands of dollars on these tools, despite research showing the technology is far from reliable.

We are parents of a trans kid and our family takes this very, very personally. If you intentionally make life harder for our beloved daughter, it’s EXTREMELY hard to think of you as an ally, to say the least. @amyklobuchar.com - you still send us requests for money, while hurting our kid. Disgusted.
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

Using genAI for concept art is so fucking stupid because like... that's where you get the cool shit. Thats the blue sky phase where artists make pieces of art that will be seen by a teenager later and change their life forever. Why would you want to start from mediocre. Why would you do that.

It was his only injury from the whole of filming.

They only got through it by banishing people from the set - including the director, any of the crew they could manage without, and eventually the actors.

Cary Elwes, who's supposed to be mostly dead, had to be replaced by a foam rubber dummy.
