National parks have SO MANY people from other countries (since they get real vacations!)

And they spend a lot of money on hotels, food, souvenirs, etc.

This is unbelievably dumb, it will destroy entire tourist towns

Really proud of this one. If you’re not tired of reviews and essays on del Toro’s Frankenstein, I humbly ask you to check out my take.

This is a damn good film. Honestly, I think one of the year’s best.
Frankenstein (2025)
It says a lot about my admiration for director Guillermo del Toro that I was eagerly anticipating watching his take on Frankenstein. It’s a story that’s been done to death, after all. There are so …

See I thought the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was a sovereign nation-state, as opposed to an appendage of the Republican Party’s empire.
NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

New piece:

Trump’s Fury at BBC Gets Unnerving Results with Pro-MAGA Edit Stunner
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

CO-SIGNED

The Wraith Squadron books are INCREDIBLE. He has voices for dozens of characters and then distinct-yet-related vices for the parts those characters are playing in their various spy missions. Breathtaking work.
19. The most talented actor in any Star Wars media at all of the 21st century is @marcthompsonvo.bsky.social, whose storytelling as a Star Wars audiobook narrator elevates the material into its own art form altogether.

This puts everyone’s meltdowns into perspective. Deport harder. Invade Ukraine harder. The gravy train isn’t gonna keep chugging for that long; Trump has been artificially propping up the global right-wing movement.
"The White House isn't sure whether Trump actually had a phone call or just imagined it" is where we are on the dementia scale now.
An amazing new Trump controversy, Part II of II:

- Saturday afternoon: Trump says he spoke to Bolsonaro the night before and planned to see him “in the very near future”

- Monday afternoon: The Trump White House isn’t sure whether Trump actually had the conversation he referenced two days earlier

The legislative branch has fucked around (acquiesced to Unitary Executive Theory because it seemed easier than governing) and is finding out (installed an executive branch that finds them surplus to requirements)

And yes this is GOP harassing Ds but GOP members far from safe in current environment.
MS NOW confirms: The FBI is working with Capitol Police to schedule interviews with the six Democratic lawmakers who urged service members to refuse to comply with illegal orders.

Ukraine relations get even more chaotic. Two factions - Kushner/Witkoff and Vance/Driscoll - are both freelancing to set US policy: cutting out the State Dept, pushing Ukraine to surrender, then leaking to press to claim they are official. Why? Putin is desperate and has called in his assets. A 🧵 1/

Saw a sign advertising Harry Potter calling him “The Chosen One” and thinking:

Star Wars: The Chosen One is doomed to become an agent of evil because of his own weakness of character

The Matrix: The One is a long game by the enemy

Potter: “The Chosen One” kicks ass and becomes a cop

In the third episode and I’m really digging the setup here. It’s *original* but deeply rooted in King’s concepts and lore. I know there are people who don’t dig the Muschietti IT-verse—I don’t mind it—but it’s definitely finding some fertile storytelling ground.

And the opening title sequence SLAYS
Rather impressed by the first episode of "IT: Welcome to Derry."

This is too late but there’s a chance that it’s not too little.

The weakness of separation of powers is one-party rule.

The weakness of one-party rule is that you have to satisfy the party in each branch.

Congress has spent years stripping away its own power & hiding behind the illusion of power.

Truly stomach churning. What's esp disturbing is that this is completely normalized all over the west. Our govts and our press insist, that Israelis are 'civilized' and 'moral', while their victims, Palestinians are barely considered human. Their endless mass slaughter is reported as a 'ceasefire'
53.8% of Israelis surveyed agree that Palestinian citizens should be used as human shields by the IDF.

So there's that.

So I’m enjoying James Remar in “IT: Welcome to Derry” but he really has these strait-laced general parts down to a science so I keep flashing back to his brief role in PINEAPPLE EXPRESS.

Hmm, Bill “Richie” Hader was in that scene too. 😅
