The reason folks are focusing on DHS's refusal to honor Real IDs is that it means that the Trump regime is asserting the right to detain anyone in America, resident or visitor, without probable cause. It's an erasure of habeas corpus for all Americans.

Add to this that HSI just filed a declaration in our case challenging these policies saying they can’t trust REAL IDs as proof of status.

So showing your papers isn’t even enough to end the stop.

The coming years are going to reveal a lot more waste on 'AI' like this by our governments, to the tune of 10s of billions squandered on appalling nonsense, all to make rich Tech Bros richer.
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) paid $18 million for a chatbot named Charlie, which the auditor general reported gave her team the wrong answer 66% of the time.

The chatbot's responses were found to be brief and lacking context, with only 2 out of 6 questions answered accurately.

Well, this is a mess. I won't be buying any Apple gift cards until I hear about a resolution to this.

Always keep multiple backups, do not save to only one cloud, to only once source.

If they brick you, you may have no recourse & things will be lost. :(

If the fascism isn’t enough to keep you away, take it from a former Tesla owner: mine tried to kill me.

I was going 70+ using cruise control when it slammed on the breaks because it saw a shadow.

I found out later it happened because Musk ordered them to shut off a radar system I paid extra for.
JUST IN: Tesla sales have dropped to a nearly 3-year LOW, despite launching cheaper models of its Model Y and Model 3 cars.

I think it’s also true that loneliness among women has historically been treated as an individual problem, while loneliness among men is treated as a societal problem. That, in turn, comes from an assumption that women are supposed to earn the company of others while men are entitled to it.
men’s loneliness gets “more airtime”?

baby I have lived the past three decades of my life witnessing corporate media elevate men’s loneliness into a full-blown balls-to-the-wall CRISIS once every 4-5 years

“more airtime” is hilarious

In today's feed-yourself thread:

Sometimes you just want mac and cheese. And you're not ready to make bechamel sauce and bake it and do it fancy-like. You've got a box mix. You'll be eating in 15-20 minutes, yeah? That's the best!

But I have a few suggestions to upgrade your box mix.

Millions of Americans are about to see their healthcare costs skyrocket, and Republicans in Congress just let it happen. Extending ACA credits should've been the easiest decision in the world.

I have a friend here to help me out with some pre-holiday things (it's rough being a single momma to an elderly mother AND a puppy y'all).... and I have gotten SO MUCH DONE just by having another adult around who is busy working remotely.

The GOP just blocked extending the ACA subsidies - again.

Making people’s healthcare skyrocket while you control the White House and both chambers of Congress seems like a great move for the midterms.
