Whenever you see Bari Weiss' name, remember:
PROFESSOR REFAAT ALAREER TOLD US TO HOLD HER ACCOUNTABLE FOR HIS MURDER!
Bari Weiss made his home a target, and they killed Dr. Alareer, his sister, her 3 children, his brother and that brother's son.
Bari Weiss is a proud propagandist for racist murder.
Remember what Dr. Refaat Alareer told us about Bari Weiss.

What if we thought of journalism as community service?

@terryparrisjr.bsky.social is doing exactly that with his project to set up journalism practices in local libraries. This is exactly the experimentation we need to increase civic information and public accountability.
My @jskstanford.bsky.social year at Stanford centers on one question: What grows when you build a community newsroom inside a public library? I've been testing it in Brooklyn neighborhood. It's works.

We can do this in the 16,000+ library buildings in the U.S. Seriously.

What happens when journalism lives inside the public library?

Sir, any 14 year-old with a cell phone could “monitor” the situation. We needed you to do something. Call @govpritzker.illinois.gov and make an actual plan please. This will happen again.
We are monitoring the situation in St. Paul and working to understand what unfolded. We received no heads up from federal authorities on this operation.

While we are always willing to work together on public safety, that is clearly not what this chaotic situation was about.

There is never any other answer except abolish the police. Look how they’re staring right in the face of a photojournalist and aiming at him. Jesus Christ.
Photos from St. Paul today captured by MPR photojournalist Kerem Yücel. He filed them even after being hospitalized after being injured by a less lethal munition.

Monitoring? That’s it? Are you committed to publicly supporting the sanctuary state legislation? Restoring the healthcare you stripped away from undocumented immigrants who are adults? Banning the egregious human rights violations we saw today? Thought so.

Let me remind you that PEN is a multimillion dollar lit org that is taking credit for the work of tiny nonprofit newsrooms such as @prismreports.org. PEN offered not a dollar or an ounce of support for the work we've published by incarcerated writers. This is disgusting & honestly, mad disrespectful

A SPPD officer named T Sand said they don't have to listen to him cause he's not their boss anymore

Quite a pair. One was arrested. For journalism. One shot in the face with a less lethal munition for ... journalism.

The rest of the country would know far less about Chicago's Operation Midway Blitz and the Border Patrol without them.

If you can, pls throw @unraveledpress.com bucks to keep going.
~1 yr ago we sent a Giving Tuesday email to our tiny mailing list shortly after starting our own publication.

In the time since, we have been overwhelmed by how many of you find our work worth supporting.

No email this time around. But if you'd like to support indie media today, here's how:

What a beautiful reflection on world-shattering grief.
My sister died unexpectedly "around this week" 8 years ago now. I do not remember the exact day. I can remember so many things, so many dates, so many numbers. But I can never remember the *exact date.* Maybe because it was around Thanksgiving, and Thanksgiving always falls on different dates.

The only thing that should be mentioned on LLM use in higher education is that it frequently fabricates sources, which is a blatant violation of every university’s academic misconduct policy that—at least prior to ChatGPT’s release—would have resulted in failing students, retractions, or expulsions
About 25 percent of faculty members have used AI to save time in creating more engaging in-class activities or generating quizzes and other assessments. Yet talking about AI use is taboo in some quarters. https://chroni.cl/4rjLxQp

Why Professors Are Using AI in Course Design
Some believe in the technology’s promises; others are simply desperate for help.

It also feels very dismissive of people who have had to continue isolating bc ppl saw the “lockdown” as oppressive rather than as a time for mutual protection and time to create new ways of being in this world together idk, it all just sucks

Small (or large!) businesses can post signs saying ICE/CBP must have a warrant to enter premises.

Also Know Your Rights signs for targeted people.

PDFs of signs and KYR cards. Plaster these puppies everywhere.
