ICE spokesperson Marcos Charles: "My officers stayed with the child. They cared for him. Took him to get something to eat from a drive-thru restaurant and spent hours ensuring he was taken care of. Again, my officers did that, not his father ... his family refused to open the door and take him back"

I have friends and acquaintances who Do Not Like This, but I can swear by my own life and experience: generosity is not vulnerability, even in the Rhetorical Arena. A generous and witty person is not weaker than the humorless, and often more effective.
(to add on) in fact, the most effective way is to positively and generously communicate with the people on the fence! this is because generosity and steadiness signal a confidence that frantic yelling does not. also, you get a compounding effect of "dang, you were right and didn't get upset" with it

This has been enabled by a society that encourages people to believe the idea that white supremacy is somehow transgressive rather than hegemonic.

The people in Minneapolis are such an inspiration.
James is one of the people who helps maintain/protect the memorial.

He's been out here every day for the past 2 weeks and 2 days, from 10am til midnight.

He lives in the house behind him.

The parents of a 7 year old, all of whom are in the process of applying for asylum, took their daughter to the ER when her nose wouldn't stop bleeding. ICE picked them up near the hospital and they are now in detention in Texas, presumably awaiting deportation. www.oregonlive.com/portland/202...

It remains unclear to me why any of us have to constantly hear the thoughts of these dudes. They’re boring. I don’t care. Please. Interview someone who won the lottery 20 years ago and *didn’t* decide that meant they could dictate how the rest of us live.

ICE detain yet another minor child—chase him down his own street and tackle him to pavement.

"I am legal! I am legal!" he cries over and over in Spanish.

Agent pins the boy down in snow—he desperately tries to keep his exposed hands from freezing at -25°F wind chill temperature.

Man the implication that somewhere deep in our brain there is a “see tiny people all over the place” button and a mushroom can press it, that’s deeply unsettling.
With most psychedelic drugs, you never know what you're going to get. But this mysterious mushroom from China - without fail - causes users to hallucinate tiny people: crawling up walls, popping out from under furniture and marching under doors. www.bbc.com/future/artic...

Only recently described by science, the mysterious mushrooms are found in different parts of the world, but they give people the same exact visions.

Causing them to hallucinate! I like this
over the last couple of decades I think media and politicians' obsession with opinion polling has caused something a bit like the data rot LLMs get when they reprocess their own information, but on a societal scale
People are waving around 50/50 polling on abolish ICE and in the same poll Trump’s is like 30 points under water on affordability. It’s not at all crazy for professional politicians to think there’s a bigger advantage in talking about the latter!

The 5-year-old arrested by ICE In Minnesota is detained at Dilley. We reported on conditions there in the below article.

Parents said the food was contaminated with mold and worms & that children were so under so much stress that they were hitting their own faces & wetting themselves.
Analysis by The Marshall Project of ICE data obtained by the Deportation Data Project found that the Trump administration’s revival of family detention has swept thousands of children into ICE custody. At least 3,800 children under 18, including 20 infants, have been booked since Trump took office.

Former immigration staffers argue ICE is choosing to detain families for prolonged periods to speed deportations and compel them to leave.

So yeah, per the DHS vote that just happened, as I suspected: if they needed the couple of Rs that werent there to put it over the edge, theyd have held it open for them to get there. Even all Ds together w Massie would have only been 214. Margins are narrow but if Rs stick together its just math
The war powers resolution to block further military action in Venezuela by Trump is currently winning by 1, with all Dems + Massie and Bacon supporting, but the Rs have flown Wesley Hunt back to DC and are holding the vote open as he makes his way to the Hill from Dulles airport
