A long time ago on Twitter or Tumblr someone described Jewish holidays as "they tried to kill us and failed, let's eat".

I can't help but think today about how the failures to kill the community still often end in dead bodies of individuals. In blood on the ground and mourning.

We library folk do a good job talking about all the free services we offer, but I don’t see many of us talking about how libraries are one or the only places where you can use services without being advertised to.

The Democrats are Republicans for people who think they aren’t Republicans.

They know they would win easily if they embraced radicalism, but that’s also risks people unifying in the way Fred Hampton envisioned.

And the worst fear of every US politician and industrialist is social unity.
Leftism is the democrats' boogeyman & scapegoat for why they never win, but actually leftism's what they need, which they realize at times when they appropriate radicalism. Equitable distribution of resources & collective care that counters capitalism is what everyone's screaming for from them.

Unfortunately, York Public Library's board of directors passed this policy. That now means York Public Library will allow discrimination in collection development and ram through the use of partisan book review sites like RatedBooks to make professional collection decisions.

Absolute shame.
***IMPORTANT THREAD*****

If you are anywhere near York County, South Carolina, PLEASE show up to their board meeting tomorrow. It is, of course and intentionally, at NOON tomorrow at For Mill Library.

Here's York County Library's background, yes, still ongoing: bookriot.com/whats-happen...
What's Happening in York County Library (SC) Should Be A Wakeup Call
Poor recording keeping, debates over what was or was not said and voted on, and special interests plague more than just this library system.

Reviews, recommendations, and requesting these books for purchase by your local library.
"I can't afford to support my favorite author right now, I—"

Reviews.

Reviews are free AND they are a gift to authors that can keep on giving (i.e., exposure, marketing, algo boosts, etc.)

Please, give the gift of reviews to your authors this holiday season. It really can make a difference!

Black people had no choice but to be the vanguard for social change for all this country’s history. No I won’t qualify that. We’re still fighting for liberation, never stopped. The wheels are stuck because the country thinks it can keep hating us & get better. Do your work because Black people do.

Evil.
There is no sight that more efficiently puts the lie to immigration “court” than the common sight of children “representing themselves.” Children too small to climb into the chair, children in pajamas who don’t know where they are, children not yet old enough to speak.

Anyone who is on the other side of perimenopause who can answer a question? Do things equalize afterwards or am going to have dry skin and trouble staying asleep for the rest of my life?

I could be wrong (I frequently am) but most people who call out racism, transphobia, ableism, and other prejudices, at least in my experience, aren't trying to cancel anyone.

They're asking for accountability. They want us to own our errors and be humble about them. And that's reasonable.

I heard that now they're placing people who criticize ICE under surveillance. I want it to be known to the entire world that I despise ICE to the core and I think their entire institution should be abolished. They are cruel, inhumane, and are examples of the worst of humanity

Fuck ICE Fuck Fascism.

I still think a lot about the fact that Gamergate did essentially win. Not that it made the culture significantly more misogynistic or anything, but it succeeded in making a lot of the people who played games eventually casually much more anti-intellectual and incurious.

Abolish corporate welfare. US taxpayers should not be underwriting these companies' poverty wages.
The Boston Globe identified the companies in Massachusetts that employ the most SNAP recipients. A key stat: "In Massachusetts, 74% of working-age recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are employed, half of them full-time."

The destruction of the federal government disproportionately affects black women. The federal civil service has long been a good career option because of the strong equal opportunity enforced in the civil service that has historically blunted the double discrimination that black women face.
Since February, according to my latest analysis, almost 600,000 Black women have been economically sidelined. The November 20, 2025, Jobs Report makes clear this isn’t a blip. It’s a structural crisis. That is not a recovery. It is a redistribution of opportunity.

It’s patterned.

Predictable.

This story of reproductive abuse/forced sterilization/hysterectomy is from 2020, & it's the same that the State performed countless times to Black & Native women, that Nazis did, so many eugenicists over time--

It wouldn't surprise if it's happening now, too.

This is what's at stake, why we fight.
