I’m sorry, but it is disgraceful to be an academic who uses this technology to conduct research. It should be prohibited in all of our scholarly institutions, including universities and journals.

Lots of Code Pink supporters felt betrayed when Medea Benjamin did a photo op with trans eliminationist Marjorie Taylor Greene but if they were surprised it’s because they didn’t pay attention to her comments about any other part of the world

YES.

Incredible words.

Just want to point out how funny/sad it is that the same people who will refuse to refer to a trans woman as "she" have no problem calling ChatGPT "she."

You know, some days I sit and think about how absolutely wild it is that we've built a society where we don't provide a place for people to even sleep at night without having to pay for it, and that we've somehow made it seem like that's normal.

Not naysaing OP as he is addressing a different convo. But I am reminded of how none of what we share digitally will last beyond the slightest whim of the private individuals who own the spectral flickering electronics to which they are scarcely tethered. Yet I can still read books from 1915.
i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

I think LLMs are unethical. This might seem extreme, but this is no different to how the tobacco & petrochemical industries are unethical. If you think my statement is problematic because I own a car, or whatever, you don't understand what unethical means. 1/2

This is very true. I’m a union steward, and when I guide people to accommodations I am careful to frame it as being for “any disability or other health issue of any duration”. Employees are a lot more open to that framing than when I described it as a disability of any duration.
Having to identify oneself as disabled to access accommodations is, on its own, a huge barrier to getting many disabled people the accommodations they need.

I don't care if a non-disabled person accesses a disability accommodation for the same reason I don't care if a child whose parents are rich gets free lunch at school. We don't need to means test being a kind person. I have better things to do with my time than be a cop over social services.
