A rare view of an Irish rainforest: from high up in the canopy.

One of so many things I love about these places is their wonderful 3-D complexity.

Such a sheer contrast to the flat, sterile livestock pasture that has replaced around 99% of cover.

Ancient 'Dial-a-Poem' Service Rises From the Grave, Lets You Use Your Phone as a Phone
There's something rather poetic about a service designed to breathe life back into poetry getting resurrected after all these years.

Joe Menn is a powerhouse of cybersecurity and tech reporting. His work has been nominated for Pulitzers, Loebs, and Sabew prizes in journalism.
Most of the Washington Post’s tech reporters were laid off today, including me. I have loved my time at the paper, which is where I wanted to work from age 15. I take some consolation in not being among the survivors who will have to work harder with less for fewer readers. On to better things.

Barry Loudermilk retiring in an R+12 district should absolutely freak the hell out of Mike Johnson and House Republicans. He’s only 62—and if he’s worried about re-election, a reckoning is coming this November.

The president can’t nationalize elections, @seanmorales-doyle.bsky.social tells ABC News Live. The Constitution gives the states & Congress the power to set the rules governing our elections, and states & Congress in turn gave that power to run elections to state and local election officials.
Video Why Trump is calling for greater federal control of elections
ABC News' White House correspondent Karen Travers explains Trump’s push to shift election authority from states to the federal government and the backlash from both Republicans and Democrats.

No need for a factbook if you have no need for facts.
It'd be ironic if it was because of this (which is actually really bad!)

Not gullibility, not exactly. Nor personal agreement.

A deep psychological need and professional incentive for normality, with both sides equal, where we share basic values but disagree about how.

Because if it really is this bad, good people would be biased against it, not neutral and “balanced.”
After Trump tells NBC News he could maybe use a "softer touch" on immigration, we immediately get the "different tone" narrative from CNN.

Brianna Keilar: "A change of tone for the president. Softer touch."

David Chalian: "He acknowledged learning something that this requires a softer touch."

Outrageous.
The average public school in the U.S. has 500 students. ICE is currently detaining over 7 schools' worth of children, many of whom are being held in inhumane conditions.

Children do not belong in government detention.

This was the “grill pilled” dream going into the Biden years but it turned out that following politics on one’s phone and feeling the pulse of anxiety and catastrophe that was learned and normalized during Trump 1.0 couldn’t be given up. There was a need to find those pulses that transcended reason.

A whole belief system to justify child abuse
Iowa legislators have just passed a bill out of committee that would end childhood vaccine requirements for school entry.

A state legislator said vaccine exemptions aren’t enough—the whole system must go—because to have to claim a medical or religious exemption is against parental rights.

“Secret insurgency” stuff..Stancil brought an an active view of action in Minneapolis to a large audience. Now it’s hardly covered. The nation needs a mass protest movement-not some secret Che Guevara club…any coverage or guidance about how to spread it should be applauded. Openness is protection.
Honestly a lot of this is cosplaying insurgency because it feels cool when what you are actually participating in is traditional mass mobilization protest.
