These are concentration camps and its our duty as citizens to ensure these things don't get built.
Breaking news: ICE expects to spend $38.3 billion on its plan to acquire warehouses across the U.S. and retrofit them into immigrant detention centers that can hold tens of thousands of people, according to agency documents.

i think most (not all) of the "you must vote for Newsom" people are just Newsom supporters who want him to win because they like him and his policies, not because they have high minded ideas about harm reduction.

I'm suing Cook County State's Attorney Eileen O'Neill Burke for appointment of a Special Prosecutor who will investigate and prosecute crimes committed by ICE and CBP agents during Operation Midway Blitz. Federal agents do not have immunity for plainly unlawful acts.
Cook County State’s Attorney has “taken no action whatsoever” against feds, new lawsuit alleges
The suit seeks the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate potentially unlawful conduct by federal agents in Illinois.

It doesn't explain his relationship to the rest of the human race but a big part of RFK Jr.'s broader damage is clearly trying to find out if he can die. I guess if I had lived a life like his and was somehow still around drinking out of puddles at 72 I'd have some questions on that as well.

The actual analysis was not released. There is no report or data or methodology. Those are Coming Soon.

Only the Executive Summary was released. It does NOT call for "hundreds more officers."

The consultant's draft staffing plan recommends 121 officers

BUT NOTABLY... +
A long-awaited analysis of the Chicago Police Department’s staffing and deployment calls for the hiring of hundreds more officers while urging scores of other positions be shifted to civilians.

A police chase reached 95 mph and carried on for eleven miles / nine minutes before ending in a wreck that killed a 55 year old woman

18 Aldermen just told her family to kick rocks instead of settling the case, so now it’s going to trial
The surprise rejection by a vote of 18 to 15 was the latest sign that an emboldened City Council fed up with the avalanche of settlements tied to allegations of police wrongdoing is no longer willing to rubber stamp those giant pay-outs.

I would say that anyone who hasn't used this stuff in the last month (and not just the free web apps) does not understand how rapidly the capabilities of generative ai is advancing, but Chris should know better than to try to have any kind of realistic conversation about this on this website
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

True for everyone ever backing him
Loss of power is one of the only actions that evangelicals will recognize as “unfaithfulness” by trump
Why read past headlines: There was a flurry of excitement that evangelicals were turning on Trump over the Obama video.

But I lay out why there’s no reason to think they really care, beyond momentary embarrassment.
