It's not so much counting him out, rather that it's a relief to realize that 1) His Kompromat is close to the surface; 2) Nobody likes Peter Thiel either; 3) He has no charisma at all; 4) Tim Walz has his number.

Even after Trump is gone, the world will remember that he threatened to forcibly seize the territory of a peaceful democratic ally, and our institutions failed to immediately remove him. That makes US dangerously unreliable, not just one senile gangster.
His not being impeached by the end of the business day as a result of this threat is as much a problem as the threat itself. It’s not just Trump that the world has to worry about, it’s a GOP that supports him and Democrats who suck their thumbs and refuse to even discuss pushing to remove him

- there are only two B-747 AF1s
- unlikely to fly POTUS to EUR on an alt platform (B-757)
- this is mainly b/c of comms capabilities

You cannot overstate how startling it is to see a politician just say the thing with clarity and poise. No fearful hemming. No overwrought qualifying down til it’s meaningless. No lingering sense that there is a loyalty to a donor class or an ideology of stasis that they’d never admit to.
